So disenchanted with fandom right now.

The more I see, the more I want to just disconnect myself from fandom. I feel like I could be perfectly happy enjoying my shows, writing fic and making pretty pictures without needing to participate in the comms and such but just for my own enjoyment. Pretty much all fandom has been doing lately is pissing me off and making me feel resentful

I've never gone near the main areas of my fandoms and therefore have saved myself a lot of headaches from all the wank and out right bitchiness.

I'm with you there. My interest in the more "mainstream" parts of fandom has waned a lot. Too much drama and so much more exclusionary than they purport to be. I like the little corner I'm in, where it's all fun and there's no need to even consider taking on the impossible task of impressing the masses.

I've noticed that people claim to be "open-minded" and then turn around and dismiss an entire group of people based on what they do or do not ship or how they view a character.

Like, I may not personally be able to see someone's 'ship that way, but I'm not going to imply that they're stupid for shipping it or for not shipping my 'ship.

People are not going to view characters the same way. I, personally, view Daniel as having some Asperger's-like qualities. Most people will disagree, but that's okay. this does not mean that those people have a 'problem'. The world would be a very boring place if we all thought exactly the same. (also we would be robots)

What may be "obvious" to one person may not be so "obvious" to another. (I have a lot of feeling about this)
