Chapter 23
Speed stepped off the plane. Why did he agree to this? Three weeks in Italy. With Tony. They way he saw it, this trip could only end one of two ways, and he wasn’t sure that he particularly cared for either of them.
Tony clapped him on the shoulder with a grin. “Non stare li impalato, andiamo! [Don’t just stand there, come on!]” He waved for Speed to follow him. Speed followed and couldn’t help his eyes going straight to Tony’s ass in his fancy Italian suit, with some designer whose name he’d never be able to pronounce. He shook himself out of his distraction. He didn’t need to be thinking about Tony’s ass right now. He was still mad at him. Instead he stared resolutely at the back of Tony’s head. His hair looked particularly silky today. Tony added a little extra swagger to his walk. Speed groaned inwardly. He had a feeling he wasn’t going to survive this trip. “You comin’, Speed?” Tony threw over his shoulder with a grin as he headed to baggage claim. Speed let out a resigned groan and followed. This was going to be the longest three weeks ever.
Speed spotted their luggage right away and grabbed it. “Alright, let’s go.”
Tony chuckled a little as he took his giant suitcase from Speed. “Relax. Rilassati!” He smiled. “Sei in Italia, amico mio! [You're in Italy, my friend!]”
“Tony.” Speed ground out through his teeth. “You know I hate airports.”
“Sì, lo so. [Yes, I know.]” Tony petted Speed on the head. “Mio caro. [My dear.]” He purred with a smile.
Speed glared and batted Tony’s hand away. “And do you mind speaking in a language I actually understand?” He followed Tony over to the rental car counter. After a brief exchange in Italian, Tony procured the keys to their rental car.
“Oh,” Tony purred, “Maserati.” Speed just blinked as they made their way to the parking lot. “GranTurismo.” Tony found their car and grinned so broadly that Speed thought his face might split in two as he unlocked the vehicle.
Speed blinked when he saw the little silver car. “This is our car?” He looked at Tony.
Tony grinned and put their suitcases in the back seat. “Andiamo! [Let's go!]” He climbed in the car. Speed got in and sighed. It was going to be a long weekend indeed.

Tony drove the sporty little car up the drive and pulled into a covered alcove next to the sprawling Tuscan villa.
Speed blinked a few times as the climbed out of the car and pulled their suitcases out of the backseat. “Just how are you affording this?!”
Tony smiled. “My uncle owns the villa. I’m just paying for airfare and the car.”
He turned on Tony. “Are you in the Mafia?”
Tony laughed. “Not all Italians are in the Mafia.”
Speed eyed Tony suspiciously. “Isn’t that when you’re supposed to say ‘there is no Mafia?’”
“Smartass.” Tony led Speed to the door and unlocked it. “Benvenuto a casa, amore mio. [Welcome home, my love.]" He waved Speed in with a flourish of his hand.
Speed smacked his arm with his free hand as he walked inside. “Stop that.”
Tony batted his eyes and put on his best innocent smile. “Che cosa intendi? [What ever do you mean?]" He closed the door behind them.
“That!” Speed pointed at him. “Stop that!” He narrowed his eyes. “I can’t understand a damn word you’re saying!”
Tony sighed, looking a little dejected. “Let’s go get settled in.”
Speed watched as Tony headed for the staircase with a bit less enthusiasm. “Tony.” He sighed as he jogged a little to catch up, rolling his suitcase behind him. He fell into step beside Tony as they went up the stairs. “I’m sorry. I’m always a little cranky after a flight, you know that.” He stared at the stairs, partly so he wouldn’t fall while lugging his suitcase and partly because it meant that he didn’t have to look at Tony. “Just…” he sighed again, “little less Italian, maybe?”
“Yeah, sure.” Tony pulled his suitcase over to a room. “You can stay with me, or pick a room.” He shrugged. “Whatever.” Speed watched Tony disappear in to the room before deciding to take the one next to it. Tony poked his head in the door. “Taking you out to dinner tonight.”
Speed managed a smile as he dropped his suitcase on his bed. “Sounds nice.”
Tony started to leave but turned back. “Wear something nice.” He smiled. "Ci vediamo, mio bellissimo. [See you, my lovely.]" He disappeared back into his own room again. Speed sighed. It would be a long vacation indeed.

Speed sat with his head against the car’s window not saying anything. Tony frowned. The whole evening had felt tense, and not in a happy sexy way. He’d taken Speed to a really fancy four star restaurant with a valet and fancy food and expensive Italian wine. Brad and Angelina had dined there just three months ago, the day before he’d made the reservation, in fact. He’d been sure to mention that. He sighed. But still Speed had hardly said fifteen words to him the whole night. He wasn’t certain what had gone wrong, but obviously something had, or else Speed would be talking to him. He pulled the car into the alcove and cut the engine. He’d been a perfect gentleman and had even sprung for tiramisu. They climbed out of the car, which Tony locked before he ran to open the door. He slipped an arm around Speed’s waist as he held the door open for him. Suddenly, Speed whirled around to face him.
“Would you stop treating me like a girl?!” He snapped.
Tony blinked. “I-”
Speed cut him off with a shove. “I’m not one of your little girlfriends that you can seduce with a fancy dinner at an overpriced restaurant!”
“But, Brad and-” Tony stuttered.
“I don’t care who ate there, Tony!” Speed stalked inside and Tony slammed the door and chased after him.
Tony caught Speed’s arm. “Speedy-”
“What?!” Speed rounded on him. “You think you can buy me off with a vacation and fancy dinners and expensive cars?!” He pulled his arm free from Tony’s grasp. “I’m going to bed.” He ran up the stairs and into room. The slamming of the door echoing around Tony. Tony sighed at sat on the stairs with a frown. He wasn’t used to his attempts backfiring quite this spectacularly. Anybody else would have been eating out the palm of his hand. He paused. Of course. God, he was stupid. Speed wasn’t ‘anybody else,’ he was Speed. He was going to have to tread carefully and make up for this big time. With a sigh, he rose and walked the rest of the way up the stairs. He paused at Speed’s door.
“Speed?” Tony asked tentatively. “I-” He sighed again. “Good night.” He sulked into his room and closed the door quietly. His head hurt, and he just wanted to sleep for the next three days. He pulled off his suit and hung it back up before crawling into bed, not bothering to put pajamas on.

Speed still wasn’t talking to him. Tony needed to fix this. And quickly. Otherwise this was going to end up being the worst vacation ever.
Tony wandered down to the kitchen where Speed was sitting by a window sipping something that smelled of hot cocoa. “So, you have anything you want to do today?” Speed just glanced at him and went back to staring out the window at the water. Tony sat across from him and placed a hand on Speed’s knee. “Speed?”
Speed looked at him. “Any bookstores around?”
Tony smiled, a genuine smile that he hadn’t felt on his own face for quite a while. “I know the perfect place.” Tony scooted a little closer before Speed could protest. “Nice little out-of-the-way store. It’s got a little café and pasta shop next to it.”
Speed nodded and finished his cocoa. “Lemme get dressed.” He stood, rinsed out his mug, and headed upstairs to change. Tony finger-combed his hair as he waited. Speed sauntered down the stairs in a pair of nice jeans and brown button-up shirt.
Tony smiled at him. “Shall we go?” He asked as Speed walked over to him.
“Yeah.” Speed nodded.

Speed wandered around the little bookshop, eyes lit up and a smile on his face as he ran his fingers over the shelves. He took a deep breath, inhaling the smell of old books. Tony watched and followed Speed around the shop. Speed turned to look at something behind Tony, their shoulders brushing together as he did so. He cast a quick glance at Tony before pulling a book off the shelf and flipping through it. Tony turned into the touch a little as Speed added his book to the stack under his arm.
Speed smiled. “I think I’m about ready.” He nodded toward his books.
“Great.” Tony smiled back. “I’m going to grab coffee and stuff from next door.” He brushed his hand over Speed’s back as he left. Speed shivered a little and twitched a smile. Tony walked into the little coffee and pasta shop next door. He grabbed a package of fresh pasta and some ingredients for sauce before ordering a couple hazelnut lattes to go.
Speed met him at the door. “What’d you get?” He asked trying to sneak a peek in the bag Tony had hanging from his wrist.
“That’s for later.” Tony smiled dodging Speed and handing him coffee.
“Thanks.” Speed took a sip. “It’s good.” He smiled as they walked back to the car. Tony grinned and got in the car. Speed was smiling again. It was nice to see. “We heading back?” Speed asked, taking another sip of coffee.
“Yeah.” Tony looked over at him. “Unless you wanted to wander around some more?” Speed shook his head. “Alright then.” Tony grinned and started the car.

Tony put a pot of water on the stove to boil while he chopped and diced tomatoes and placed them in a sauce pan to stew. Speed was up in his room reading and drinking coffee, which was fine by Tony. Tony finely minced two cloves of garlic and some oregano and tossed them in the tomatoes. He stirred them a little to help break down the tomatoes more and pushed a button on a remote that was on the counter. ‘Mambo Italiano’ piped through the speakers in the kitchen and Tony started dancing as he seasoned his sauce. The water began to boil and he dumped in his fresh farfalle pasta. He hummed along with the music as he gave the sauce and the pasta a quick stir. A quick peek in the oven told him that his bruschetta was almost ready. Speed wandered down to the kitchen just as Tony had finished setting the table out on the balcony with two candles and a string of lights hanging from the edge of the roof. Tony blew out the match in his hand and tossed it in the sink when he returned to the kitchen.
“What’s all this?” Speed asked, gesturing to all food.
“Dinner.” Tony grinned. "Scusami.[Excuse me.]" He slipped past Speed and plated the pasta with its tomato sauce and some slices of bruschetta. Plates in hand Tony slipped back past Speed, sneaking a kiss to Speed’s cheek, and made his way back out to the small round table.
Speed followed, eyebrow raised and a smile playing at his lips. “Have you been planning this all day?” He asked as Tony gestured for him to sit.
“Pretty much.” Tony grinned, setting a plate in front of Speed and sitting across from him with his own plate. He pulled a bottle out of some ice and opened it. "Vuoi un po' di champagne? [Would you like some champagne?]" He asked. Speed nodded and Tony poured some into their glasses. Soft Italian music wafted out from a speaker by the door.
“Thanks, Tony.” Speed took a bite of his pasta. He let out a soft moan at the fresh, rich flavors that bathed his tongue.
Tony smiled. “Di niente, Tim. [You're welcome, Tim.]” He ate a few bites of his own pasta and took a sip of champagne. They ate quietly for a few moments, listening to the soft music. “Buon compleanno!” Tony smiled after a little while. “Happy birthday.” He clarified when Speed raised an eyebrow.
Speed blushed a little. “So that was all this is for.” He gestured at the table and sipped his champagne. His foot found its way to Tony’s ankle. “Thank you.” He smiled.
Tony tentatively hooked his foot around Speed’s calf. “My pleasure.” He took a bite of pasta. They finished their food and Tony stood, holding out his hand.
Speed raised an eyebrow. “What are you up to?” He asked as he took Tony’s hand.
Tony helped Speed out of his seat and pulled him close, placing a hand at Speed’s waist. “What makes you think I’m up to something?” He grinned and batted his eyes innocently as Michael Bublé’s ‘Sway’ drifted through the speakers.
“Because you usually are.” Speed smiled an ‘I told you so’ when Tony began to sway with him to the music.
Tony kissed Speed’s cheek. “Ti amo, Tim. [I love you,Tim.]”
Speed blushed, slipping the hand that was not clasped in Tony’s around to rest on Tony’s lower back. “That I understood.” He whispered.
“Some things have no language barrier.” Tony whispered back. “Like ‘mi dispiace. [I'm sorry.]’” He looked into Speed’s eyes, trying to communicate his regret with his own.
Speed twitched a smile. “I know you are.” He murmured. Tony dipped him at a crescendo in the music. Speed blinked and was about to say something when Tony righted him again. “Tony.” He sighed, laying his head on Tony’s shoulder and smiling a little when Tony rested his cheek on his temple. Tony placed Speed’s hand on his waist, freeing his own hand. He lightly brushed his hand down Speed’s neck. Speed mumbled and blushed, whether from the alcohol or the sensation he couldn’t tell. He nuzzled at Tony’s neck before lifting his head and kissing his cheek gently.
Tony played with Speed’s hair a little before tracing his ear with a ghosting finger, causing Speed to shiver. “I’ve missed you.”
“Missed you, too.” Speed looked at Tony when he realized that they’d somehow moved inside. Tony kept his eyes locked on Speed’s as they ascended the stairs. Speed noticed that the music was piped throughout the entire house.
They paused outside their rooms and Tony snuck a quick kiss. “Your decision, Speed.” He whispered against Speed’s lips. “Not going to push if you don’t want it.” Speed slipped his arms around Tony’s waist, one of his hands sliding under the back of his shirt. He nodded. “Let me hear you say it.” Tony stroked Speed’s cheek with his thumb.
“I want…” Speed’s breath hitched as the pad of Tony’s thumb brushed over his lip. “I want you.” He whispered. Tony pressed a kiss to Speed’s lips. Speed moaned into the kiss and pulled back gently, resting his forehead against Tony’s and nudging them toward Tony’s room. Tony ushered them into the room, closing the door behind them. There was no one else to hear or see anything, but the closed door made the room feel a little less exposed. They reluctantly stepped back from each other to toe off their shoes and peel their socks from their feet.
Tony kissed Speed’s neck lightly as he lowered him to the bed. “Speed…” He began unbuttoning Speed’s shirt and placed kisses on each inch of the newly exposed skin. Speed moaned, threading his hands through Tony’s hair. Tony pulled off their shirts and kissed Speed gently. They undid each other’s pants slowly, neither wanting to rush the moment. Tony tugged their pants and underwear off, tossing them on the floor, and covered Speed’s body with his own. “You’re sure?” He asked softly. Speed nodded and pulled Tony’s head down, kissing him. Tony grabbed the lube from the nightstand drawer, and slicked his fingers.
Speed arched his back off the bed when he felt Tony’s finger probing gently. “Tony!” He breathed as Tony slowly worked his finger in. Tony nuzzled at Speed’s neck, dropping light kisses every so often. Speed leaned his head back to give Tony better access to his neck. Tony attached his lips to Speed’s neck, right above his collar bone, as he carefully pushed in a second finger. Speed pushed his ass against the welcome intrusion. The lube was causing a tingling sensation in his ass. “Oh.” He mewled. Tony placed little kisses around Speed’s face as he gently moved his fingers. Speed reached down, covering Tony’s hand with his own and pressed Tony’s fingers in farther.
Tony slipped in a third finger and Speed gasped. “Relax, love.” He kissed at Speed’s throat and moved his fingers a little. Speed panted in response. Tony worked his fingers around, stretching Speed gently.
Speed shook slightly. “Now, Tony, please.” He panted. Tony pulled his fingers away and Speed whimpered a little at the loss. “Need you.” Tony slicked himself with the lube and kissed Speed deeply as he slowly pushed in. Speed moaned into the kiss, arching under Tony. Tony began to gently roll his hips, setting an achingly slow pace. Speed pulled back for a breath. “Faster, Tony.” He grabbed Tony ass and tried to pull him in harder. Tony thrust a little faster wrapping a slick hand around Speed. The resulting tingle caused Speed to shiver. Tony moved his hand in time with his thrusts. “Yes!” Speed’s hips matched Tony’s rhythm. “Close.” He breathed. Tony leaned down and kissed him, slipping his tongue into Speed’s mouth as they moved together. Their tongues mingled a few moments until Speed pulled away with a cry as his release spilled over their stomachs. Tony thrust once, twice before he stilled, shaking through his own release. He collapsed next to Speed with a sigh. Speed smiled contentedly and looked over at Tony.
Tony smiled back and kissed Speed gently. “Be right back.” Tony crawled out of bed and grabbed pajama pants out of his suitcase on his way to the bathroom that connected their rooms. He’d been gone for a while before Speed even heard the water in the bathroom running. Tony returned wearing his pajama pants and carrying a pair of Speed’s pajama pants and a wet washcloth. He gently wiped Speed clean with the washcloth which he subsequently tossed across the room into the hamper. Speed shimmied into the offered pajamas with Tony's help and snuggled against Tony when he climbed back in bed. Tony stroked his hand over Speed’s arm and pulled the covers up to their waists. “Happy birthday, Speed.” He whispered, nuzzling at Speed’s ear. Speed closed his eyes and laid his head on Tony’s chest, nuzzling a little. Tony smiled. “Buonanotte, mio caro. [Good night, my dear.]”
