Chapter 9
Speed walked into the break room to find the rest of his coworkers waiting. “What’s going on?”
“You’re leaving, Timmy?” Alexx asked, her eyes full of questions.
“Uh, yeah.” Speed sighed. “I’m moving to D.C..”
“But, Speed-” Calleigh started before stopping herself. “Why?”
“I, uh…”Speed shifted uncomfortably and scratched the back of his head.
“Speed?” Delko piped up, catching Speed’s eye.
Speed took a deep breath and looked around the room. “I’m moving in with my boyfriend.” He watched as everyone blinked.
Delko broke into a grin. “About damn time, too.”
Speed laughed. “Yeah. I know.”
“I never imagined that… you…” Calleigh spluttered, “How long?”
“How long have I been gay? Or how long have we been together?” Speed smiled.
“Oh, um… both I guess?” Calleigh looked up at him.
“Well, I realized I was gay when I started college.” Speed shrugged. “Tony and I have been together since the following Spring Break.”
Alexx smiled. “How did you two hook up?”
Speed blushed. “He got me drunk.” He stopped Calleigh before she could ask her next question. “That’s all you’re getting about that. Mostly because I don’t remember much else.”
Calleigh threw her arms around Speed’s neck and started to cry. “I’m going to miss you.”
“I’ll be here for two more weeks, Calleigh.” Speed chuckled. “But I’ll miss you, too.” Speed was soon surrounded in hugs.
Alexx smiled. “I’m glad that you’ve found someone, Timmy.”

“Hey, Tony.” Speed smiled into his phone.
“Speed, what’s up?” Tony’s voice asked.
“Team knows. About me. Us.” Speed sighed with a laugh. “They’re happy for us.”
“That’s great, Speed.”
Speed frowned. “You okay, Tony?”
“Yeah. Yeah, I’m fine.” Tony’s voice dismissed. “I just haven’t gotten around to telling everyone here. It’s been kind of crazy around here.”
Speed raised an eyebrow skeptically. “Alright.”
“When are you flying in?”
“Next weekend, Tony. You know that.” Speed sighed. “Are you sure everything’s okay?”
“Yeah. It’s fine.” There was a pause. “Gotta go.” Tony’s voice was replaced by a dial tone.
“Tony?” Speed blinked at his phone.

Speed stood in front of Tony’s door, getting his thoughts in order, before he raised his hand and knocked.
‘Well, stereo’s on. Probably can’t hear the door.’ He thought as he fished out his key. The key slid easily into the familiar lock. He turned the key, opened the door and slipped in quietly. Tony wasn’t in the living room like Speed had expected that he would be. ‘Strange.’ He heard a thump from the bedroom. “Probably jacking off.” He muttered to himself with a smile. The stereo blared in his ears as he passed it. Speed made his way toward the bedroom where he found the door cracked open. He grinned to himself mischievously as he pushed the door open. “Hey, babe I’m-” He stopped in his tracks at the sight of a strange man, naked, next to an equally naked Tony. “home?” he squeaked.
Tony’s head snapped around. “Speed!” He scrambled away from the other man. “You’re not supposed to be here for another three days!” He looked back at the naked man behind him who was throwing on his clothes . “I, um... I mean…” A tear rolled down Speed’s cheek as the stranger slipped past him. “Speed.” Tony pleaded as he frantically hurried to put on his boxers.
Speed stared down at Tony, his eyes hard and tears running down his face. “How could you, Tony?”
Tony looked up at him. “… Speed…” Speed’s jaw clenched. “Speedy…” Tony gulped softly, his eyes filling with tears when Speed flinched at hearing the nickname. “… Timothy…”
“You promised.” Speed ground out quietly. “You said ‘no more’.”
“Um… actually… I said no more… women…” Tony stopped, “this isn’t helping my case is it…”
“I didn’t think you were sleeping with guys as well!” Speed glared.
“Speed, I-” Tony stepped closer only to be met with a vicious right hook to the jaw that made his head spin. He rubbed his jaw and looked at Speed. “Okay… I deserve that…” He sighed.
“Damn right, you do!” Speed growled.
“Speed, I’m sorry. I just… I was stressed and freaked out and…” Tony tried to blink back tears. “I fucked up… I know that-”
“Oh, I don’t know, Tony, looked to me like you were just fucking!” Speed yelled, getting into Tony’s personal space.
“Speed…”
Speed gave him a shove to the chest. “I uprooted my entire life to come be with you! And this is how you repay me?!”
“I’m sorry, okay?!” Tony ran a hand through his hair, blood trickling from his lip. “I’m not good at the whole monogamy thing!”
“I noticed that!”
“I’m trying, Speed, I really am!”Tony looked him in the eyes and pointed to his bed. “That was the first time since you got shot, okay?!”
“No, Tony, it’s not ‘okay’! You told me you would stop!”Speed smacked him in the shoulder. “Three days, Tony! Just three more days and I would have been here every day for you!”
“You think I don’t know that?!” Tony threw up his hands and Speed grabbed his wrists.
“Do you, Tony? Because I’m not really sure that you do!”
“Speedy, I-” Tony let out a yelp when Speed’s knee connected violently with his groin, and he fell unceremoniously to the floor.
“Fuck you, Tony.” Speed snatched Tony’s pants from the floor, balled them up and threw them at Tony’s head. “FUCK YOU!”
“Speed…” Tony gasped through the pain as he curled into a ball.
“If you had really been trying, you wouldn’t have even considered this!” Speed spat down at him, finding Tony’s shirt by his feet he prepared to create another clothing missile.
“But I love you, Speed.” Tony braced himself for a blow that never came.
“What?” Speed blinked, in slight disbelief. “What did you say?” Tony looked up at him. “Did you just say what I think you said?”
“Yes?” Tony uncurled a little, a small degree of frantic hope shining through the sadness in his eyes.
“You actually have the audacity to say that to me now? After what you just did?” Speed glared. “You,” he pointed at Tony, “are a fucking lying bastard.”
“Just… give me another chance…” Tony sat up, only to be pushed back down by Speed.
“Why should I?” Speed grabbed him by the shoulders. “What the Hell is in it for me?” Tony reached his hand up and went to brush the hair away from Speed’s forehead, but Speed swatted his hand away. “Don’t fucking touch me!” Speed shoved Tony back down, hard enough for his head to thunk against the floor, and stood up. “You can forget about us.”
“No. I can’t.” Tony said quietly, looking up at Speed. “I- I really can’t.”
“Really?!” Speed scoffed. “You were doing a good job of it!”
“In case you hadn’t noticed, we weren’t doing anything!”
“Whatever you were or weren’t doing, you were doing it naked with another man!”
“I couldn’t go through with it, Speed!” Tony stood painfully. “Nothing happened. I kept thinking about you, and I couldn’t do it.”
“So when I walked in on you?” Speed stared, tears still rolling down his cheeks.
“I’d just finished explaining about you.” Tony looked into Speed’s eyes. “I told him I couldn’t because of you.” He placed his hand on Speed’s cheek to try and wipe away some of the tears.
Speed pulled away from Tony’s touch and turned to walk away. “You can go ahead and ship my stuff back when it gets here.” He threw over his shoulder as he left.

Tony jogged through the airport, looking for Speed. He flashed his badge at the security personnel.
“Federal agent.” Tony explained as they let him through. He looked around, searching the crowd of travelers, hoping that he wasn’t too late. It took him all of two minutes to locate Speed heading toward gate C-5. Tony took off running, people be damned; he’d jump on top of the fucking plane if he had to. He closed the distance and vaulted a row of chairs, eliciting gasps from those in the area. Speed started to turn to find out what the commotion was. Tony spun him around by his waist and planted a kiss on his lips for everyone to see.
Speed pulled back. “Tony-”
Tony took Speed’s head in his hands. “Just hear me out…” He pleaded. Speed blinked. “I love you. I know I don’t show it often, and I sure as Hell haven’t told you often enough.” Tony sighed when Speed raised an eyebrow. “Okay, practically never. I know that.”
“What about all the others?” Speed asked quietly.
Tony looked him in the eyes. “Most of that was fabricated. I…” He sighed. “I spent a lot of time going into bars, looking for a one night stand, only to turn around and leave. Because I’d think of you, Speed, and I couldn’t do it.” He blinked, tears running down his cheeks. “None of it ever felt the same. I have feelings when I’m with you that I haven’t experienced at any other time in my life. And sometimes, I admit, it scares me, but when you’re not here I miss it all and it drives me crazy. You can yell at me or hit me or whatever all you want… just… don’t leave… please…”
“Tony…” Speed sighed, tears in his eyes. “I-”
Tony wiped Speed’s tears away with his thumbs and pressed a kiss to Speed’s lips. “I love you, Timothy Speedle.”
Speed looked down. “How do you always do this to me?” He asked quietly with a sigh. “I’m still mad at you.” He said as he looked back up at Tony.
“I know.” Tony affirmed softly. “I don’t expect you to forgive me overnight.” He rested his forehead against Speed’s. “But I promise I will make it up to you.” He kissed him gently. “I promise.” He whispered.
Speed let out a resigned sigh. “I won’t leave.” He paused. “But that doesn’t mean I forgive you.”
Tony wrapped his arms around Speed and nuzzled the top of his head. “Right now,” he said softly, “I’ll take it.”
“Tony.” Speed put a hand on Tony’s shoulder. “People are staring.” He whispered.
“Let them stare.” Tony whispered back, planting a long kiss on Speed’s lips.
Speed blushed. “Let’s go home."
