Yet, if you going around the intertubes, Jeff/Annie is soooooo unpopular guys! And everyone knows that Britta is the most popular character from Community!

The things that most interested me was how few of my choices matched the most popular (Jeff/Annie, Spanish teacher Chang and Emotional consequences) and, on the relationship thing, how little overlap there was with the most popular (in terms of number of stories) ships on AO3. Of the top five -
The only similarity is Annie/Jeff at number 1 and Britta/Jeff at number 4 - the others weren't even judged worthy of a separate entry on Buzzfeed and are presumably included in the whopping 3% given to "my favorite isn't mentioned here". (Also, the popularity of stories involving Annie doesn't really track with her only coming third in the most popular character bit but Buzzfeed is just objectively wrong there, so there...). I guess this says something about how tastes differ between those fans sufficiently invested to create fanfic vs. those only sufficiently invested to fill in a buzzfeed survey, or something.
I’m actually slightly surprised that Annie/Troy isn’t on that list. I seem to read people saying now and again (more frequently since the show ended) that they wish Annie and Troy had become a couple (why?) but I guess nobody’s bothered to write about it much....
When you get right down to it, the only potential pairings that actually "broke the television rules" on Community was Annie/Troy and Britta/Rick (Subway).
Annie/Troy because they were set up to a be couple at the start of the series and...they never happened. They became friends, Troy even dated other people, and after the first third of the first season Annie didn't care. Hell, Troy even dated her supposed romantic rival for Jeff, got the guy Annie wanted (at one time) for herself, and she still didn't care
