This was brought up in the episide discussion thread and heavily debated. Most people believe it to be an alternate scene from "Ladders" after Annie is injured.

(reposting from TumblrOkaay. After bringing this to my groupme, we’ve pretty much figured out that 1) it’s not a Ladders deleted scene and 2) it’s possibly a preview pic for an upcoming ep ( ... )

He's not wearing the Burberry sweater. Look close to Annie's calf, you can see the zipper from his blouse, which the one you showed doesn't have in that place.
Their clothes look like the same from Ladders, just darker, in my opinion.
What I find strange is the position Annie is. First, she is not immobilized as she should and second, her right leg be like that is just weird for me. I don't know why. It just is.
So, I think it is a deleted scene. I just don't know why they posted it or why it was deleted if we have extended show time.
Last time we had a nice photo we got fooled, remember? I'm keeping my hopes down.

I'm not sure what it is since this just happened on Twitter:

He was kind to JA-ers about it though.

He says it was a reshoot but there is nothing more than that so possibly a deleted scene I guess. DVD extras?

Also, at least this does mean definitively that they ARE going somewhere with JA this season!! !

So, it turns out that that I was right. It was an alternate scene.

However, no matter how much you squint, it does not mean jack shit for J/A or that there's going to be any progress at all.

All it means is that people who picked up on the fact that Jeff was hella worried about Annie specifically as opposed to "I'm worried about all my friends when they get hurt" were reading the situation right.

Even if the possibility had been super low of it being anything in the first place, it's soooooooooo disappointing. Why show this to me, Yahoo? Why?

Honestly guys, no offense to anyone, but I would have bet a couple hundred bucks that this was a reshoot. The entirety of the J/A ship fandom seemed to be working themselves into a tizzy and it just didn't make sense to me that this would be a new scene, between the fact that they were wearing the same clothes as in 6.01 and that it evidently featured Annie being hurt. That's gonna happen to her twice in one season? Not likely.

It does beg the question though, as to why Yahoo would publish this pic at all, especially as part of a post-airing analysis of 6.08......weird. Thank god someone had the balls to tweet Harmon about it or we'd still be speculating.

Sometimes the people who put together this kind of articles don't even watch the shows. They just pick a few random shots they like and that's it, no major reason behind it. Out of contex, this still seems to be from a pretty meaningful scene so maybe they simply thought it actually was. Or they simply liked how pretty both characters look lol
Stills from deleted scenes get published all the time.

Fair enough. And tbh, you're right. Out of context, it does look like a pretty meaningful scene. We better get that fucker on the DVD release cause I'm dying to hear the dialogue here.....

I keep seeing it referred to all over tumblr and Twitter as a deleted scene but it's not really a deleted scene, or at least it doesn't fit the criteria of what I would consider as such. I think to be a true deleted scene, said scene has to have been excised due to context or time constraints. Typically a deleted scene could be put back in and things would be (more or less) fine. In this case, it's really more of an alternate take as they needed to reshoot due to the original scene not working as it was. You couldn't put this scene back into the episode, because it's completely parallel to the scene showing the same event (but in a different light) that actually made the cut. Idk....maybe it's just a matter of semantics and I'm being too anal here, but it doesn't strike me as being in the spirit of a true deleted scene.

Regardless, I hope they include it in the DVD extras.

Yeah, I agree. I think it's pretty much the same scene we got in the episode (in terms of dynamic) with Jeff rushing to her side after he heard she had gotten hurt. And it was probably scrapped because they ended up deciding to have Annie get seriously injured (and in this scene shes clearly fine, she didnt even had to be taken into th hospital)
