I hear you. I am exactly in the same place as you are. I am sorry that your family, and my family, have to cause so much pain for us simply because they cannot or will not accept their children for who and what they are. So sad.

Good luck in your forthcoming marriage. I hope you and Bruce will be very happy together. And, congratulations on your graduation. That is quite a monumental undertaking and I applaud you for finishing. Heck, some people never even begin.

Seems like if your parents can't except your spouse, that's that. When my folks got married, my dad's mom didn't talk to them for years, 8-10 I think, because my mom "was not a jew." (My mom actually converted to judaism before they got married, but that wasn't good enough for her). So my grandma didn't accept my mom, and my dad only spoke with his dad for that length of time. When my grandpa got sick (aka shortly before he died), my grandma started talking to her son again. But the damage was done. And in the end, it was my mom who ended up being hurt, because my dad when on like nothing had happened. Food for thought.

I'm glad you talked to her, but I'm sorry nothing has changed.
