It's here, and it's lovely. It is a pretty laptop. (I didn't realize it would be.) It's more or less the same size as the one I'm using, but it weighs less. Now it is gulping down antivirus and Windows updates, and I'm trying to ignore it so that I can get more chapters read. Evidently I need to make some recovery disks, as it came with . . . They feel a bit weird, but they do the job, yeah. I'll get used to 'em.

But, but, but I just turned down the boooook! Chinese medicine! T_T Moving computers while working on a book has always resulted in defaulted deadlines in the past. Dang it.

(And yes, I was SURPRISED.)

Chinese medicine? Was it written by a Chinese person? If so, be glad. Interesting topic, but hell to check in translation. I think I ended up going back to the original Chinese draft and retranslating large chunks of it myself, and googling up scientific names for the herbs, etc etc. Crazy lot of work. o.o;;;

I remember your book! But this is an article collection, each chapter written by someone different, the same sort of thing I used to do for Blackwell (i.e., one chapter might be super well written, the next illiterate, and so on). I've also done a number of articles on acupuncture in a general medicine and an IVF context, so I've a vague(ish) idea of the sorts of things that can pop up.

Meaning this book might have been a decent fit for me editorially, and it paid reeeeally well. But I am not doing it. Stoopid machine. T_T
