I used to feel that I was a
genuinely pure person simply because I kept away from drugs and alcohol. I
have seen the effects of drugs and alcohol on past friends and society
and concurred that I would never allow an opportunity
to become a part of something that I am disgusted by.

I still feel that my personality ( Read more... )

i've never felt alienated or ashamed because of my decisions to abstain from alchohol consumption, and certainly never like they were a "crutch" to somehow fit in.
if that's the way you see it, though, i fully support your decision to adapt your lifestyle. drinking doesn't change who you are. you're a good kid, and you always will be in my eyes.

real quick, i'm not edge to fit in, Hence I never had any close edge friends to begin with. I would've prolly never even seen any edge people if I didn't go to so many shows.

I wasn't ashamed, I was very proud. And I think that pride went to my head cuz it reflected baddly on my self-image and personality. And it took a lot of unfortunate events for me to realize that not doing drugs or drinking alcohol doesn't necessarily make me a good person.

I'm not giving up edge to start drinking, I'm giving it up to become a better person.

i'm feeling gratefull for the support though

Obviously, I'm not going to cut anyone off simply because they make a decision that they feel is better suited towards their lifestyle. I definitely feel like some of the things you said were a stab at people who continue to "wear a label," but whatever. You can't deny that it was something that you were a part of. Have fun!

we're under different circumstances, I don't know you well enough to judge you but straight edge probably had a positive effect on you. I on the other hand, am in a different story ( ... )
