Have you ever tried lucid dreaming, or sleep-like things of that sort? While your body falls asleep, you focus your mind to be at least partially awake.
It's supposed to be similar to an out of body experience, but that's not what happened with me.
I was, I guess, awake, but still dreaming. So I'd close my eyes and see an image, and it would just morph into a bajillion different things and I couldn't even predict what it would become. I know, I know, it sounds retarded, but it was quite trippy. Everything was enhanced, as well. I could hear the wall clock twenty feet away as if it were next to my ear.
I do have lucid dreams every once and a while, a few nights ago I dreamt I was Grissom from CSI. I went out and got my ass kicked because I was depressed over the lack of appreciation from a ladyfriend. I remember very distinctly the taste of my blood. I know it was a dream though because it didn't hurt. From there it was pretty much cakewalk in amber hues.
Were you partially asleep or getting ready to go to bed or did that happen just out of the blue when you were fully awake? That sounds like some of the blobs that float through my brain space when I get ready for bed.
Normally, right before I fall asleep. Kind of partially awake, but mostly asleep. Just, awake enough to realize what is happening.
The other night I was laying there and I watched a black weiner dog morph into probably one of the creepiest skeleton/evil weiner dogs I've ever seen. And I couldn't stop it...
I think in order to experience what you're describing you need a VERY active imagination, which is something you have. It's probably a combination of your creativity, mental focus, your surroundings.
I like Angela's ideas on dreaming being a way of achieving your goal, although lately I can't seem to dream about anything non-gaming related. Maybe I need to take a break.
I'm practically already there, dream wise. Thats part of what is bringing this about and partially why I wonder if it is just a matter of focus or something internalized. I'm probably going to pick up some reading material regarding visualization and meditation techniques, just to see if there is something relevent in there.
Tain't wrong dreaming about games. Its better than being bored all night with lackluster dreams about purple parking cones or somesuch.
