Well, actually "mansion" in Japan doesn't mean a big house like a bungalow or villa, it means mansion-style apartment. A regular apartment would be called "apato." Mansion's rent is expensive than apato because the building construction is different (more stable & solid in case of earthquake), more security & mansion also look more luxury. :)
