I'm really very sorry for not updating as fast as I used to be. Real life just gets in the way recently. Tsk tsk.
Anyways, I wanted to share something I notice while researching about the Imperial family. Well, I think I already said before that the IHA is a branch of the government that takes care of all the matters regarding the Imperial family. It's like their the official spokesperson of the family and did you know that they report even the smallest stuff to the media like Princess Aiko's (the daughter of the Crown Prince and Princess) school sports day, or the fact that she walks from home to school on her own without her guards or that she's able to learn a new instrument or little Prince Hisahito going to an aquarium in Chiba and petting a turtle. Really, just small things like that and I find it really weird. LOL. But maybe it's their way to get the people closer to the royals, letting them into their daily lives.
Okay, enough of my blabbing, here's the latest chapter! :) As always, this is unbeta-ed so tell me if there are any errors and mistakes. Comments, suggestions, reactions and criticisms are gladly welcomed. Happy reading! :)

Chapter Twenty - Eight: The Aftermath
Sakurai Sho photographed holding hands with a Princess.
The whole nation rejoices as the IHA reported that His Imperial Highness Crown Prince Hoshihito is finally out of danger. The beloved Crown Prince fell into coma for almost two months after being involved in a fatal car accident that took the life of the Crown Princess Soyoko. It was announced that he’s eating well and able to sit on his own now and his two children are by his side everyday to take care of their father.
But it’s not just the Crown Prince that got everyone’s talking, his youngest daughter is also getting her own share of tabloid reports. Yesterday afternoon, at the University of Tokyo Hospital, Her Imperial Highness Princess Sayumi (21) arrived at the media-packed entrance with a number of Imperial guards on bay and Arashi’s Sakurai Sho (30) holding her hand for support.
Since her arrival in the country, people are desperate to get a glimpse of the estranged Princess and now they got what they want, with extra scoop. Pictures of the Princess and Sakurai are all over the internet and selling like hot cakes. Video clips are also shown repeatedly on television news reports. Sakurai, known for his terrifying rages on people photographing him in private, seemed to be surprisingly open with his alleged romantic relationship with the Princess. Though the two ignored the media’s questioning, they went through the throng of cameras looking very close and intimate.
Now, people are wondering on how the two got acquainted. Sakurai’s agency, Johnny’s Entertainment, chooses to not comment on the matter while the IHA didn’t confirm nor deny, hinting that Princess Sayumi met Sakurai earlier this year and when asked where and how, they choose to shut their mouths . They then said that she is getting all the support she needed from the people she love after the tragic accident of her parents.
Sakurai Sho throws the tabloid magazine on the table as he took a huge sigh, his hand rubbing his forehead as he tried to close his eyes to think and yet he can’t even get his mind to work. This morning is anything but big chaos. He woke up with the endless ringing of his mobile phone, family members, friends and even some co-workers are trying to reach him but he ignored every phone call that comes after the first time he dared to answer a call.
His mother’s voice went ringing inside his ear when he answered, realizing that it’s a big mistake to press the green button on his phone. He can’t blame his mother for being irritably nosy after seeing pictures of her son and his secret girlfriend on every tabloid magazine and morning news shows, but Sho hates being bugged every morning, especially when he’s sleeping, so he ended the call in the middle of his mother’s incessant blabbering, turned his phone on silent mode and returned to sleep.
The chaos just didn’t end there, a message from his manager informed him that Arashi is called for a meeting with Johnny-san before they start their schedule for the day, as if that would surprise him. He already prepared himself for that the minute he held Sayumi’s hand for the whole world to see.
Instead of driving his car to the Jimusho, he is picked by his manager, saying that it’s a security measure. He didn’t quite get it at first, media doesn’t know his license plate nor do they even know what his car is but when they got into the Jimusho, he finally understood what his manager meant by security measure. Media people and fans alike huddled the entrance of the building and it’s all a big commotion that even the Jimusho’s security can’t handle. Thankfully, the car is heavily tinted and they got inside safely.
The rest of the members, along with their managers are already inside the room when Sho arrived. They were going through the pile of tabloid magazines and newspapers that’s been published just this morning.
“Some fans were saying that instead of ‘Sakurai Sho, the future Prime Minister’, it’s more appropriate now if it’s ‘Sakurai Sho, the future Emperor.” Their chief manager’s voice echoed through the creepy silence inside the conference room. His attempt to lighten the mood failed as everyone just smiled cautiously. Sho arrived in a bad mood and no one bothers to mess with him.
“As if that would happen.” Sho dismissed with the slight irritation on his voice. “When the time comes for us to getting married, she would marry into my family not the other way around.”
And the creepy silence fills the room once again, they all know what that tone of Sho’s voice’s means. He’s annoyed, irritated and almost angry. Aiba lowers his head, Ohno stares blankly above the ceiling, Nino nods his head once before picking up a random newspaper on the pile while Jun studied the look on Sho’s face.
It comes as a shock for the members when the news broke out. Sho didn’t even mention once that he’s planning to come out with his relationship with Sayumi and they were quite sure that if he decided to do so, he will tell them and Johnny-san first. Sho is stickler with the rules and he makes sure to follow every guidelines bestowed upon them. His extended vacation in Paris earlier this year is the first time he ever broke Johnny’s rules in the entire sixteen years of his stay in the company. This is just the second one and both times involves the same girl.
“Not when the rules are changed and your Princess is allowed to be an heir to the throne.” It was Johnny-san’s voice and they didn’t realize that he’s already at the door that they almost jumped in their seats when they heard his voice.
The old man sat on his designated chair to the far end of the meeting table, no one dared to speak when he showed up. He cleared his throat before he speaks again. “Those pictures.” His raspy old voice resounded as he points at the pile. “Who told you to do that?” He questioned Sho as he look at him with angry eyes and when Sho did not reply, his voice went high in exasperation.
“The mess you made got in you in a really big trouble, young man. Have you seen the madness outside?” Johnny-san slams his palms into the table. “Just because she’s a Princess doesn’t mean that I’ll let you go easy on this, Sakurai! Now speak! Give me a reasonable explanation to lessen whatever penalty I will give you.” He commanded Sho, his face is all red with anger.
Sho’s hands were sweaty and trembling and he couldn’t tilt his head up to look at the Johnny-san. He was never been yelled at by him, not even when he got back from Paris. Now, he’s being scolded like a pre-schooler in front of his friends and the managers and he can’t help but feel embarrassed.
“It was a spur of the moment thing.” Sho’s voice was so small that the managers sitting on the other end of the table can barely hear a thing he said. “Her father just woke up after two months of unconsciousness, all I think about that time is to get her to see him immediately.”
“And you didn’t even think about the possible consequences of your actions?” Johnny-san asked, his voice is still sharp but he manages to cool down a bit.
Sho lowered his head and sighed before he answers again. “Sayumi is my top priority now, more than anything else.” He announced, about ten pairs of eyes went darting to him and he can’t held up his head to look at them.
“More than this company? More than your own reputation? More than these four friends of yours?” Johnny-san questions him and he refuses to answer that, so he remained silent while looking down on his lap as he stares at his trembling cold fingers. He didn’t just put his own career in danger with this media fiasco but also Arashi’s future.
Johnny-san leaned his back on the chair and crossed his arms on his chest. “I specifically asked your manager not to say a word to you about the impact this ‘spur of the moment thing’ of yours because I want you to hear it straight from me.”
The other people on the room still remained lip-locked as the pay attention to the man in front of them while Sho maintained his head down.
“Some mature enough fans expressed their happiness that you finally found someone, of course I’m grateful they reacted rather kindly. Some, majority of them, teenagers who worship you like god, were crying their hearts out, expressing hate towards the Princess, some even went extreme by taunting and sending threatening letters to her that it alarms the palace.”
Sho shoots his head up with what he heard, he didn’t saw that coming. He didn’t imagine that Sayumi can be put in danger with his impulsive behavior, he just didn’t expect that the fans are capable of those things. Shocked and worry can be also seen on the other member’s faces.
“But the IHA will take care of her, aren’t they?” Nino’s calm voice asked and Johnny-san faced him. “I mean, it’s their job, to take care of Sayumi and make sure that everywhere she goes, every person she talk to and every food she eat are all safe.”
Johnny-san nodded. “Like you said, it’s their job.”
“I was specifically summoned by His Imperial Majesty to talk about this mess, along with some of his council and the members of the IHA. I will go to the palace after we’re done with this meeting.” It was visible in Johnny-san’s face that he wasn’t a bit happy to be personally called by the Emperor himself to talk about this matter. “Apparently, the Emperor doesn’t want any of his family members to be dragged into this celebrity gossip mill.”
Sho wanted to ask about Sayumi, if she’s okay, if she has heard about the threats or the fact that her grandfather has summoned his boss to talk. He was too irritated with the constant ringing of his phone and the mad reaction of the media earlier that he forgot to call her and ask if she’s okay.
“Now, Sakurai… did you finally understood the consequences of your actions?” Johnny-san is still leaning back on his chair, his fingers softly tapping the wooden table as he awaits Sho’s reply.
Sho dropped his head as he covers his face with his hands. He wanted to scream in fury and cry in guilt but he can’t do that in front of them, he embarrassed himself enough.
“Princess Sayumi is fine, if you wanted to know.” Johnny-san informed him and he felt a bit relieved to hear that. “Her guards were tripled as it was yesterday, just to be safe.” The old man sighed as he leaned forward to the table.
“I have no problem with you dating her, Sakurai but I’m your boss, I don’t want any of you to keep secrets from me especially regarding these matters. You’re all public figures, you can’t do things as you like and you can’t act on impulse. All I asked from all of my talents is to inform me ahead of time so that we can plan it, take precautions and as much as possible, lessen the media fiasco.”
“Your girlfriend isn’t some normal girl, Sakurai, she’s a Princess for crying out loud. She needed to be handled carefully more than any other girl in this country.” Johnny-san reminded him and Sho nods his head in understanding.
“All of you are adults now, sooner or later you’ll meet someone and will decide to get married, if that time comes all I need from the five of you is to tell me. So I can protect you and the girl from the pressure and stress the media might bring.” He looked at them one by one, like a father lecturing his children. “Do you all understand?” The five men nodded their heads understandingly.
Johnny-san pulled back his chair and stood up from his seat as his assistant immediately gathered his things on the table. “We’re not over yet. I will call you all again tomorrow. I don’t want to be late with my meeting with the Emperor.”
And the old man left the room, leaving the Arashi members and their managers speechless and almost frozen in their seat as the room returned to its creepy silence.

“What did the doctors told you?” Sayumi walked towards her father’s bed and grabs the newspaper on his hand. She doesn’t want him to strain too much with the write-ups and pictures of her all over today’s papers. She even hid the television remote control to keep him from seeing news reports about her.
“No stressing yourself and all you have to do is to get plenty of rest so that you can quickly leave this hospital room and go home to our house.” She reminded her father who is looking at her with a small smile on his face.
“I think I missed a lot of things while I was sleeping, huh?” But she was too late in confiscating that newspaper, he already read the article. The small smile a while ago grew bigger as he taps the empty space behind him, asking her to sit. “Why didn’t you introduce him to me yesterday?”
Sayumi rolled her eyes and smiled as she quickly sat beside her father. “He doesn’t want to ruin the moment with his presence, saying that we should spend some time together, you, me and Nee-chan, just the three of us. He was outside with Kiyomizu and he left just before dinner.”
Her father nods. “Where did you meet this guy? He’s a celebrity, isn’t he? And he’s so much older than you.” He added that last part meaningfully.
“Paris.” She answered timidly. “The age gap isn’t really a hindrance, Father. I think you will like him. He’s smart and eloquent, he knows so much about politics and the economy and education. He graduated from Keio with a degree in Economics. He came from this well-respected family, although I still yet to meet them. His father’s a lawyer and his mother-”
Her father interrupted her. “You don’t have to tell me all the good stuff about this guy just to get me to like him, Yumi-chan. If you like him then I like him for you.”
“I know.” She answered with a smile. Her parents have supported her in everything she do, never did they stopped or discouraged her in her decisions.
“After all, I watched Sakurai-san delivering the news on TV a few times, I think he’s great. I would like to meet him personally.”
Sayumi is surprised as she gapes at him. Of course, her father watches the news and the chance of catching Sho on News Zero is high.
“I just don’t think that your grandfather will like all these media attention.” Her father pointed at the papers and Sayumi lowered her head.
Pictures of her and Sho, holding hands, are all over today’s papers, morning news and the internet. The situation has gotten out of hand that the IHA are already coordinating with Johnny’s Entertainment on how to control the commotion.
“Grandfather will handle it all with his council and the IHA. You don’t have to stress yourself. Just don’t think about it, it’s all under control.” Sayumi assured her father although it’s not entirely true.
