Sorry if this came out after a week since the last update. I've been busy with RL and stuff. Another thing is that Sho is distracting me from writing this chapter. I can't focus on writing about Jun when Sho is all over my head. lol. (Plus the fact that my tumblr dashboard is filled with Maotsujun lately, (I wonder why) I don't like that pairing, tbh. *bitter* :p)
Anyways, I hope you guys will like this as much as I had fun writing it. It's just so fluffffffyyyyyyyy!! ♥ ♥ ♥
As always, this is unbeta-ed so please don't hesitate to call my attention if there are some errors are mistakes. Comments, suggestions, reactions and criticisms are welcomed with open arms. Happy reading!
CHAPTER TWENTY FIVE
Yana’s eyes are fighting with the unfriendly morning sunlight as she wakes up from a long and fulfilled sleep, her first in a long while. As she lazes around in bed, savoring every second she has left before starting her day, she caught a glimpse of her phone on the bedside table blinking endlessly.
“Hello?” Yana answers inattentively, not bothering to know who might be that person on the other line.
“Happy Birthday!!!” She heard Eri greeting her happily, making Yana smile all by herself.
Her twenty-sixth birthday has finally come. For the past twenty-five years, she just let her birthday pass by like a normal day but this year is different. She’s excited for it to come and a big reason for that is the fact that Matsumoto Jun carefully planned everything that will happen today.
“Thanks, Eri-chan.” Yana said in a sleepy voice.
“I intentionally called at this hour because I don’t want to disturb you later.” Eri chuckled, controlling herself from flailing too much at the thought of what may happen tonight.
“It’s not like I’ll abandon my phone today. I’ll accept birthday greetings from everyone.” Yana smiled while hugging her pillow.
“So… Yana… what does this mean, then?” Eri curiously ask.
“What do you mean?”
“Seriously, don’t be so dense.” Eri didn’t fall for the bait. “You know, even if I’m confident that I know everything about you, you can be really unpredictable sometimes. I don’t get the things running on your mind. Like now, you’re actually celebrating your birthday with him.”
“He makes me go off the rails all the time.” Yana answers with the softest tone of her voice. “I tell myself to stop this feeling but I can’t, because at the end of the day, all I wanted is to be with him. I don’t have enough reason to let him go.”
“Then what’s stopping you?”
“Stopping me from what?”
“Stopping you from getting into the next level?”
Yana smiled, fixing herself on the bed as she stare upon the hand painted mural on the ceiling. “Before, I was too scared but after I got back from that vacation with Mom, I feel that got braver, stronger. Nothing’s stopping me now, Eri…”
“Then does that means that…”
“I’m ready… At least that’s what my heart is telling me...”
Yana heard Eri break into a squeal as she breaks into her own too.
“Oh my gosh, I was flailing like a teenage girl here, Yana!”
“And you’re almost thirty!”
“Don’t mention my age here!” Eri laughed. “I’m happy for you, Yana… Matsumoto-san is a great guy.” Eri suddenly speak, calmer now than earlier.
“He is...” Yana softly said while breaking into a sweet smile.

At exactly 8 in the morning, Matsumoto Jun arrived in front of Yana’s apartment building. After checking if everything’s in place and fixing his fedora hat and sunglasses in the rear view mirror, he finally steps out of the car and headed towards the entrance. His phone suddenly vibrates on his hand and saw a message coming from Eri.

Good luck today!
Gather your courage and say it!
Believe me, it will all be worth it! :)
=============================
Jun can only smile to himself after he read that. Eri’s been playing cupid since that night at the restaurant and he can only be thankful. This was actually her idea, she told him to do something for her birthday and here he is, getting his plan into action.
He reached her apartment unit and took no time to knock on the door, she attend to it right away, like she’s been patiently waiting for that knocking sound to come.
Jun doesn’t know how or why but it seems like as days go by, he falls in love with her even more. She welcomed him with the brightest smile, so bright it can overpower the sun outside. Her hair is down and kept untouched and she doesn’t have the slightest make-up on her face yet she is still the most beautiful girl his eyes had ever laid upon. She’s wearing this colorful ankle-length summer dress that complements well with the color of her skin. She’s glowing and happy, he can definitely see it through her eyes.
“Good morning.” Jun greets her as he removes his sunglasses.
“Morning.” Yana smiled, making way for him to come inside.
Jun enters the apartment and closes the door. She was standing by the living room, her hands are tied together at her back and her shoulders are slowly swinging as if waiting for him to say something.
He laughed as he came closer, his eyes fixed on her face. “Happy Birthday.” His voice was husky, as if intentionally trying to sound sexy.
“Thank you.” She smiled. “I’ll just get my bag and then we’ll go.” She said before disappearing into her bedroom.
As they take the elevator, both with their handy sunglasses as disguises on, they can feel the rising tension. A mix of anticipation, anxiety and jitters on what the rest of the day may offer. They are well aware that today is a special day, not only because it’s Yana’s birthday but it’s because they know deep in their hearts that this day may be the start of something new in their relationship.
When they reached Jun’s car outside the building, he sensitively open the passenger’s door for her and to her surprise, there’s something waiting for her on the seat.
“I think these don’t want me to seat here.” Yana wittily said as she picks up the bouquet of red roses lying on the leather seats.
Jun sighed as he leans towards the car door, rolling his eyes. “I was trying to be sweet here and you’re ruining it.” He whined.
Yana laughs. “Thank you. It’s beautiful.” She says before hopping inside the car.
“So are there more surprises left?” Yana asked after Jun started the car. “Coz I swear I told you that it’s strictly no surprises.” She said but she doesn’t look mad at all, she’s smiling and playing with the roses on her hand.
“What’s with you and your fear of surprises? I thought girls love it…” Jun ignores her question, he’s still got a few more surprises left that he kept secret from her.
“It’s not a fear or anything. I just don’t know how to react to that kind of things. At worst, it can totally turn into a really awkward situation.”
“Smile, act happy and overwhelmed, I think that’s enough reaction for a guy throwing a surprise for a girl.”
“I’ll keep that in mind.” She said in a small voice.
“Just to warn you, there are more to come.” He smiled, completely focused on the road in front of him. “Right, before I forget.” He reached for the compartment in between their seats and produces a small white envelope in his hand. “For you.”
“What’s this? Another surprise?” Yana took the envelope and opens it. Inside are two VIP concert tickets.
“It’s still a month from now but I immediately got two as soon as it was released.” Jun explains after seeing that she seemed shocked. “You can bring Eri-chan or whoever you want to bring.”
“It’s my first time to watch your concert.” She said, staring into the two precious tickets on her hand. “I sometimes catch reports of it on TV and it seems really fun, especially the Kokuritsu ones. Performing in front of an enormous crowd must be really nerve-wracking for you guys.”
“I still get jitters every time.” He shared, shifting glances at her and the road.
“You must be.” She smiled and their eyes met. “But you still have four other guys to share the pressure with.” Jun agrees by nodding as he went back to focus on the road. “Thank you for this. I’m looking forward to it.” She picks up her wallet and inserts the tickets in one of the many pockets.
“Me too.” He smiled. With Izumi Yana watching him from that enormous crowd, their first day concert at Kokuritsu this year is probably the most pressuring concert for him personally. Just the fact that she’s going to be present there gives him the urge to give as twice effort than what he usually gives.
Their whole road trip on the way to Chiba is a whole different experience on its own. They talked about their future plans and Yana shared how she’s both excited and nervous for her upcoming Tokyo Dome concert. She promised him that she’ll give him tickets as soon as it’s off the press as a sign of giving back her gratitude for inviting her to his. They also talked about his current airing drama and how she’s looking forward to it every week, much to his satisfaction. She told him that Taiga is such an interesting character and he’s probably one of her favorite roles he ever played.
He’s just so passionate, he can be really innocent and hard-headed but he never gives up on his dream. He’s unselfish when it comes to love which is great because you barely see those kind of guys these days.
That was Yana’s own insight of the fictional character and Jun was all giggly inside after hearing that. She’s really watching this drama and he can tell that she’s enjoying it.
In truth, Jun can definitely relate to Taiga in the love department. They are both in love with a girl who has a complicated past so it wasn’t hard getting into character. Only problem is that Yana’s past is far more complicated, full of darkness and agony and most importantly, it was real.
Besides the chit-chatting inside the car, they also sing along to the upbeat, summery songs on the radio. They put the windows open as they let the wind inside, brushing away their hair as they scream along to the lyrics of the song playing on the background. After almost an hour of concert performance-like singing, they are both tired and their throats hurting due to the excessive energy they just released.
They finally reached their destination and Yana is getting excited upon hearing the rustling of the waves from afar.
“Isn’t the waves a bit strong?” She asked, she can guess just by the sound it gives.
“We are farther south of Chiba, waves are stronger here.” Jun informed her. Now that he mentioned it, it took them almost three hours to get here. They passed through a long, narrow road with just the tall pine trees on sight, no houses or even people walking along the road.
“Do you go here a lot?” She asked.
“I used to, with Shun and our friends. Last year and the year before, I was here most of the time but I’ve been busy this year so I don’t get to come with them anymore.”
“Seems to me like we are the only people here.” She laughs. There are no other cars on the empty lot that they parked the car and she can’t hear any people from the beach.
“It’s a secret spot.” Jun told her. He stopped his tracks and turns around to face her. “Are you scared that we are alone?” He asked while raising his eyebrow.
“No.” She defended. “It’s not like you’ll do something to harm me or anything.”
“If I ever did something to you, I’m pretty sure you’ll like it.” Jun said with confidence and his face is turning all smug.
“Really?” She said in the most sarcastic tone she can come out with.
He laughed before he took her hand and pulled her into the long row of trees that’s hiding the view of the ocean.
When they finally got through the rocky sands and the tall, mounting trees, Yana can only be mesmerize at the beautiful ocean in front of her. The water is deep blue and crystal clear and the waves are enchanting her to come and quickly play with it. The sand is white and fine that she can lay on it all day and the breeze is pure and fresh. There is no sight of any surfers on the beach, this is all theirs.
“How the hell did you find a paradise like this?” she softly said, admiring the beauty in front of her. Yamapi took her to a few surfing spots before but it’s all crowded and commercialized that she couldn’t enjoy it fully.
“We used to surf on crowded areas and we always get spotted without fail. In the end, we’ll just leave the beach and go back to Tokyo because the surfers are more interested on us than the waves.” They both laughed. “And then we discovered this place while driving down looking for less crowded beaches. Apparently, this place is only famous to locals. We are the only visitors who go down here. The fact that this place is hidden deep down south, not to mention the unpaved road, makes it hard for surfers to find. Do you like it?” He asked while shaking their still entangled hands.
“Do I like it?” She faced it. “I love it!” she beamed happily.
Yana pulled him towards the water and they played along the little waves reaching the shore, their hands never wanting to let go of each other. It was a rare sight seeing her like this, like the ocean gives her a certain burst of energy. She was so happy and lively, she plays with the water like little kid. Jun was glad that he brought her here because he found a new side of her, a side that can only be seen with the help of the ocean.
“You know, I just noticed something.” Yana told him when she finally stops jumping along the waves. “There’s no beach house or something and I can’t see any surfboard and we didn’t even bring one.”
“I got that covered.” Jun crossed his arms on his chest. Yana narrowed her eyes. “Trust me, I’ve been preparing for this day for almost two weeks, of course I would forget something important like that.” He said coolly.
Hearing from him that he took a lot of time preparing this makes the butterflies on her stomach grumble from too much happiness.
“Why don’t you change first?” Jun hands out her bag. “Your dress is all wet.”
“Where would I change?” She looks around for a house or even a make-shift cottage but all she sees are trees and big rocks.
“Here. I won’t look.” Jun puts his hand across his eyes, he’s grinning brightly behind it.
“Baka!” She shoves a hand on his head.
He erupts in laughter after he took his hands away from his eyes and saw her getting a bit angry at him. “I’m sorry.” He pulls her closer, still laughing. “You can change in the car. I’ll change here.” He suggested, stroking her face. She’s still giving him the angry look along with the cute pout she does whenever she’s irritated. He held her cheeks with both hands and mutters, “I’m sorry.” This time, softer and more sincere, he slowly moves his face towards her and gently placed a quick kiss on her lips.
They haven’t made out since she got back from her vacation with her mother or even share a deep passionate kiss for that matter. Being a guy, of course, he’s eager to do it but then again he respects her enough to understand her decision for not doing it these days.
After they both change into their wetsuits, both taking turns changing in the car, three local guys came and it looks like Jun is pretty friendly with them. What surprises her is that they greeted her happy birthday in which she was caught off guard replying thank you in such a small voice. She was face with another big surprise as the guys brought along with them two surf boards, a camping tent, a portable grill, basket-full of freshly caught shellfish and some barbeque meat. She couldn’t find her words and all she did was to stare at them in awe, she was overwhelmed.
“I did warn you earlier, right?” Jun whispers. They are all alone again, his friends left after setting up the tent for them.
“This is just too much to take.” Her voice is almost dry.
“Your reaction is the best, though. You look really surprised.” He giggled.
“I am.” She confirms as she finally shifts her eyes on him.
“Good, that means I’m doing everything right.” He smiled as he studies the look on her face.
“Just curious… is there more?”
“Uh huh.” He nodded.
“Is it even bigger than this?” She puts in carefully.
He thinks for a while. “Hmmm, it is pretty grand…”he smiled while she gapes in horror. He laughs at her, putting an arm around her shoulder and pulling her closer to him for a hug. “Now I’m afraid you’ll be traumatized than be surprised.”
“I might be.” She answered.
“Well at least you know that the next one bigger, you can start thinking of a proper reaction starting now.”
“Just cut out the surprises and tell me!” She demanded.
“But I like to torture you by keeping it a secret.” He teased and she crumpled her eyebrows again. “The look on your face is epic I want to record it with a camcorder.” He suddenly produces a compact camcorder and angled it straight to her face.
She slowly opens her mouth in awe as Jun hurriedly took away his arm on her shoulder and started running backwards away from her, the camera is still facing her.
“What are you doing!!!?” She yelled furiously while chasing after him. “If I caught you you’re dead, Matsumoto!!!” She continued her scream fest as Jun laughs at her endlessly.
Jun abruptly tripped on his steps as he was running backwards, he fall on the shore and Yana is quick to catch him by positioning on top of him. She took the camcorder from his hand and started filming him as he struggle to get away from her.
The waves started hitting them in the face and they both gave up on pestering each other. They are both wet from head to toe, the sand are getting in their faces too.
Jun took the sand away from her face but they suddenly caught each other eyes and just like an unspoken gesture, they lips began to touch. It was full of eagerness both from their sides. They were suppressing their sexual tension for days and now there's just no stopping them. They wanted each other, they yearn for each other and with the waves and the ocean as witness, they are giving it all in.
* Part two of Jun's birthday surprise on the next update. I planned to write it all in one chapter but it will get really long so I divided it into two. Wait for it! :)))
I am just wondering, do you guys like this paring?? JunxYana? Because I am planning on including them on my next fic. They are not a sub-pairing though, nor will they have a storyline (but if they got great response I might include them. lol) Since this fic happened January to August of 2010 and my next one will start January 2012, it's like you'll see their development. lol. Anyways, lemme hear your thoughts! :D
