I'm really intrigued by where you are going with this, and I'm interested in reading more. Very well written so far.

Oooh, nicely done. I'm a sucker for angst. Why is that?
But also a sucker for people looking out for each other, esp. if it happens to be my OTP. Which it does.
I like your understated medical descriptions of how an embryo managed to implant in a male's abdominal cavity. Frighteningly, it makes sense.
I also particularly like how you've handled Jim's emotional reactions. Everything comes across beautifully (if I dare use that word for something so vile and unpleasant).
This is uber-good, and I am going to try to wait at least a LITTLE while for more!

I don't know why we become suckers for angst. I think it's because we want to see how characters we care about can hold up and overcome painful, terrifying, threatening, and gruesome challenges. We put them into the worst possible circumstances, and in doing so, we expose their strengths, weaknesses, quirks, and emotions. It kinda lays them bare in a way. And then, of course, we can put them with the characters of our choice and have that character pull them back together.

We did a bit of hypothesizing of how, given very futuristic biotechnology, an embryo could be implanted like that. We ran it by a young doctor who happens to be in fandom, and I'm a biologist who works in biomedical research myself. So... I'm glad it makes sense! We tried!

There's more, of course. I mean, you haven't stopped reading at Part 1, right? We've already posted the first five chapters. Two more to go! :)

Finally started reading this! Knowing me, catching up will probably take a while, but it's extremely compelling so far.

Well, compelling is a good start! I can't wait to see what you think of it once you get into the thick of it. :)
