I went to Microcenter to go prowling for a laptop.   It was random luck that my friend popefelix happened to be in the store and I saw him as I walked in.  I'd been hoping to get his thoughts and opinions before purchasing a new computer, because - to be blunt - I know shit-all about computers.  I can USE them.  That's about it.  I have no real idea what I' ( Read more... )

Yay! And hi Gus! My laptop's name is Shinigami. I figured if I named it "God of Death" after a Gundam Pilot no one managed to kill then maybe I'd be less likely to kill it. It worked for my cat named Duo Maxwell. :) And your scarf grew. I have whatever 15+8 is left.

Yay! Welcome Gus! My computers all have the same name, in various varieties. :P

Lessee:

Saturnyne (Later renamed Grandma Saturnyne and used til it blew (literally xD;))
Saturnyne II (Given to Dad when he bought me III)
Saturnyne III (Still functioning)
Saturnyne IV & V (Never officially titled, built out of spare parts and eventually given away)
Saturnyne Laptop Edition (Tecra #1...kept title for Tecra #2)
Saturnyne Portable (Current netbook)
Saturnyne [Still deciding on full name] (Current laptop and primary computer)

...man, I'm a dork. XD I was joking with a friend that I should make knowing the name's origin a requirement of any future boyfriend. :P Oooh, your old one had a trackbutton or whatever those things are called? My Tecras had both the button and the touchpad, and I couldn't stand the button at all. Pain in the butt. I just use a mouse with my laptops now, so it's a moot point, but yeah.

Yay for new computer!

Not one of those weird buttons in the middle of the keyboard. This was a button built into the center of the touchpad. It's hard to describe. Anyway, Gus is shiny and sleek and light and thin and pretty. And he has EIGHT HOURS of battery life per charge! I can actually go places and do things without needing to find an outlet every time! JOY!

Are you online at all?

Yep! He's very shiny! :D

Also, I was wearing the Gryffindor scarf you knit for me the other day... and my friend was jealous. She was amazed that it had been hand-knit, so I sang your praises a bit. Jenn and I miss you. *HUGS*
