“The signal detected by Lieutenant Uhura is the communication frequency used by these creatures. Yes, they appear to be sentient.”
Sulu actually grinned, but McCoy looked like he’d been back-handed.
I really like how McCoy and Spock each get to be right for the other being wrong.
Your planet continues to be fascinating like all get out. Going back and rereading the first chapter alone is very satisfying for all the foreshadowing.

And now when you go back to the first chapter, you'll notice BOTH Kirk and McCoy yawning and feeling either sleepy or very tired while they're on the planet. ;)
The planet is pretty nifty. I had fun imagining the ecology and all that stuff.

He basically was doing the normal mourning thing... and went to literally hold Horvat's hand. And the flower was just sitting there, in his hand. If you went to hold a person's hand (if they were sleeping, for example), and you found something in that person's hand, would you reflexively pick it up? :)
And yay icons!

Oh, wow, you have me on the edge of my seat with this one. And biting my nails, which are short to begin with, so the ends of my fingers hurt, too.
*draws hearts around this* The banter between Spock and McCoy is perfect. I could so see this in my mind. Your wish was to write an episode and I think you have.
