I've decided that  the computer data "cloud" requires a good acronym.

Our
User
Data

I won't go near this flawed fad.

Have you heard of anyone ever actually losing data in one of the major cloud services? I haven't. Certainly it seems less likely than the average PC and the average user's backup methods.

I don't even claim that it will be worse than what people do themselves. But it gives a false sense of security.
Even worse, at some point someone providing cloud storage will decide they aren't making enough money at it, and pull the plug. If we're lucky, they might give us a couple of weeks warning.

Interesting. Of course, there is no service around that I trust completely - I set up automated backups even for cloud services that I use. I'm sure many, if not most, are not so careful. It's good to Publicize failures so people take precautions.
