I am quite happy with these eyebrows! I used the kneaded eraser method, and it worked quite well this time. It took some time, but I managed to get the to look similar to the original ones that Souldoll had done on her. I liked those. I just didn't like that very pinky/orangey colour scheme they put on her then.
I so hate eyelashes! They are the BANE of my existence, where faceups are concerned!! Wah!
Yeah... I guess when I think about it, I realise that your "kids" don't have eyelashes either. Guess I don't really notice most of the time though!
yeah, it's not something all that noticable when they aren't there. but when they are there, you really notice them hehe eventually, i'll buy some new eyelashes :/
Very blonde Deanna Troi? You're right, she does! *gigglesnort* ...you realise this means we're both geeks, right? She looks lovely. <3 ...and don't get me started on eyelashes. -__- It gets easier with time, but is still sucks royal patootie putting them on. I was putting Kiri's eyelashes on this morning, actually. ^^;
EYELASHES MAKE ME WANT TO TAKE A NICE LEAP OUT OF MY WINDOW.
But in other news, that face up is amazing! How you manage to come up with this professional works out of NOWHERE amazes me. I wish I could do that, it'd save me so much money.
It was kinda difficult this time... I started the faceup about 2-3 weeks ago, and kinda gave up on it... Got frustrated wit the lips, and how the pastels and watercolours were not going on as smoothly as I wanted them too. I also felt disappointed in myself for not coming up with new ideas for the faceup...
Then, I realised today that what I really wanted for Marion was basically the same colour-scheme faceup, but with better/different eyebrows... And then it was mainly a matter of patiently working through the layers of colour and detail.
Now I'm happy with the overall effect, except that I am tempted to reapply the lashes, and play around with the positioning of the eyes themselves some more. Marion looks a touch cross-eyes to me...
I think I am so afriad of doing my own face ups because I know that I'd get really frustrated and I'd never finish it and will only whine about how it USED to be.
I think what you did for Marion looks really elegant and professional! Something that I'm always picky about is neatness, and her face up looks amazing~
And I honestly don't notice anything cross-eyed about her, but I know how it is, eyes drive me insane when it comes to my own dolls.
When you're the one doing the art-work, or any other detail-oriented project, you always notice the flaws and imperfections left in it. Sometimes it's nice to step away, through the eyes of another person, and get that fresh view, with a new appreciation of the project.
Also, leaving the project for a while, and then coming back, gives you a fresh outlook.
I think if you're thinking of ever doing a faceup, do it on a doll that came to you blank. That way, you won't be "competing" with the previous faceup...
Hehehehe... Thankfully, I always liked the look of Deanna Troy! Though, I did not actually intend my resin girl to end up looking like her! Ooops! I believe it has something to do with those huge dark eyelashes, actually... hmmmm...
