scratch Johnny Depp off the list

I watched the trailer for Ghostwriter the other day, as I usually watch all of them at apple.com that seem remotely interesting. Then the director credit popped up in the trailer and I was bummed. Not just because I wouldn't go see it, but yes, for all the talent I admire that were also involved.

I agree that he needs to be held accountable for what he did and that he should be punished for it but at what cost to the victim. She wants it all to go away. Should we punish Polanski and make this poor woman go through hell by bringing it all up again or do as she asks, what she wants?

I hate this argument so much.

The benefit to bringing a child rapist to justice is not just to help the victim. It's to help all of us. It's every other person who was raped. It's our entire society standing up to say this is intolerable and we don't care who you are or how long you run, you will pay for this crime. That's who benefits by bringing this man to face justice.

Not to mention, the fucker fled before sentencing, and there's no statue of limitations on that crime, and he needs to face the music for that one too.

I'm deeply disappointed in Depp for spouting this crap. I hope his wife has the sense to smack him upside the head and tell him what a prat he's being.
