Please pimp this around. It's only for my own edification, but I'm curious about this phenomenon. IP logging has been turned off and anonymouse comments are allowed if people feel the need for some reason.

I have a terrible phone voice. I still have people ask if my mother is home. So if I've never spoken to someone before, I hate to have a phone call be the first time. Bane of my existance. I need a voice coach or something.

i am not *scared* of it, but it is hard for me to use sometimes, when the nuero problems are more. i think it is cause there is not soemthing to focus my eyes on to follow (when it gets like that i need to be able to watch daddy's face when he talks or i get lost). it is not so bad as it was and there are days and days where i do fine on the phone, but days when i can't it is compeltely overwelming to try to use.

I think it comes from having to pitch stories when I was freelancing. You encounter people who 1) don't care, 2) will tell you they don't care, and 3) will then insult your parentage and your home by making snide remarks about anyone trying to write who doesn't live in NYC or LA.

There are only a few people who I can talk with easily on the phone, they're the ones who are used to my long, long pauses and don't mind the silence or keeping talking while I'm silent.

I'm okay answering the phone or making calls for someone else.
