MM & BoF's Excellent Adventure

Jun 08, 2012 15:28

Last weekend (I took Friday and Monday off) I went down to D.C. to visit best_of_five. Of course I wanted to see her, and she wanted to see me, but the other purpose of the trip was for us to go down to Durham, NC and get the stuff she'd had in storage for the past two years. At first we were (well, she was) going to rent a van, but the mileage charges would ( Read more... )

I know. *hangs head* I'm so pathetic. I want to see Men In Black, too! I've seen Avengers more times than I've been to the movies in the two previous years. I don't even know!

It was fun! But next time I go down it will be more fun when there is no moving and trailers involved! :-P

Monday we went to the Air & Space Museum out at Dulles, and I got to see the shuttle Discovery!

DUDE!!! You were like at my HOUSE. If and when you ever come back down, I am going to be mighty offended if you don't gimme a heads up.

If you live near Balls Bluff Road ... !!!! :-P I was kind of fond of Frying Pan Road, though!

I know! I did think about getting your number from J, but with the moving and stuff, I didn't know when we'd be where. We were initially supposed to stay over in Durham Saturday night. But next time I go down, I'll let you know beforehand, and we will definitely get together!

That's 4 miles from my house, so yeah, LOL, damn close!

Next time...maybe we can get the J girl too. ;)

YOU CAME TO DC AND DIDN'T TELL ME??

*cries*

I still love you but next time let me know. I took caes to the Smithsonian but the Enterprise was there then... not the Discovery. More reason to make her come back.

I know, I know. *hangs head* I was telling T above who also berated me. :-P I just didn't know where we'd be with the whole moving thing, or how long it was going to take us and all that. But next time, I promise I will get in touch with you beforehand so we can hang out! (I didn't have ANY alcohol the whole weekend! While we were waiting in Durham for them to attach the tow, we walked across the street to the Red Lobster and sat at the bar ... and I drank a raspberry smoothie! It was very tasty, but not as tasty as a frosty margarita would have been!)

I LOVE YOU, TOO!!

Ohhh, isn't the Aerospace museum awesome??! We saw it when they had Enterprise in there. I must admit, I shed a tear of fangirl happiness. Actually, I had a hard time leaving the space section. Kansou had to drag me out eventually. And did you see the damn food the astronauts ate in the 60's?? *shudders*

Ha, Frying Pan Road. I've passed it many times (usually while sitting in traffic with Kansou).

I'm glad you are safe home though. It sounds like a fun adventure!! ♥

I've been to the one on the Mall a bunch of times, but this was the first time I managed to get out to the one at Dulles. They moved Discovery in last month, and the Enterprise is now on the Intrepid in NYC, which I haven't managed to get to. (I'm terrible about seeing things locally!) I made BoF take pics because I couldn't find my phone (I'd left it in the car. Oops!) Hahahaha! That's not food! (Though I still remember the Tang commercials from when I was a kid, and how it was "the astronaut's drink!") I bought my niece and nephew some of the astronaut ice cream - it comes in flying saucers now - and cool spacey t-shirts that glow in the dark. I got a Discovery shirt (and a fridge magnet) for myself. :-P

It was fun! And I didn't take out any cars or pedestrians or street signs or mailboxes or small (or large) animals with the trailer. Success!

Ha, I became obsessed fairly fast with those silly machines that you put the pennies in - the ones that flatten a picture onto them! I carry my Enterprise one in my wallet from the museum ;) Ridiculous when you think that you pay a buck to use it, just to get out a squashed penny! XD

Not killing anything definitely counts as success! Go you!!
