There's only @ eight or so hours left to sign up for Remix Redux 9: Love Potion No. 9!Sadly, I still only qualify in Harry Potter, but I've offered to remix in Saiyuki, Kyo Kara Maou!, and *bites nails* Dong Bang Shin Ki. I've tried not to think about it too much, and it's not that I think it's a reflection of my writing or anything. Not that I think so highly of my writing, but I don't think I suck either. Hee! Still, it's like a thorn in my side some days, and more like a mosquito bite other days - hard not to scratch when it starts itching. Bitter w0t? Me? Heh.

I would love to go, but it's not looking so feasible at the moment. I've got the HP con in late April/May and who knows how much the JYJ concert (in May or early June it would appear) is going to cost, and you know I have to go to that! LOL My priorities of fail, let me show you them!

I totally don't get the rules about the Optional tags though. I qualify for only Saiyuki, I can see that... but what are these extra tags in the qualifying fandoms for? Do I leave that blank??

Optional tags:

In what you qualify for (i.e. you have enough stories as per the rules) you can list fandoms you've written in that are not on the list of qualifying remix fandoms. Like Loveless or Wild Adapter.

For what you want to remix (what you're offering to write), you can list ANY fandom that has stories and a tag on AO3. Like Kyo Kara Maou! or Wild Adapter or Boondock Saints.

You have to offer to write in at least one fandom you qualify for - in your case, Saiyuki - but you can also offer Naruto or whatever. Last year I offered to write in KKM and got assigned to a KKM author (my friend Shay) who also happened to write some Junjou fic, and I came up with an idea for one of her Junjou stories and wrote a remix of that instead. You can remix any of your assignee's stories as long as they're not previous remixes of someone else's story, a co-authored story, or their listed safe story.

You can't change the pairing, but you CAN ignore it and make it gen. See, the thing is, you can completely break down the story to its base elements and take the string of the plot (Say in the case of a 39 fic, "Goku annoys and frustrates Sanzo") and rewrite it completely from the ground up. You can add in Gojyo and Hakkai if they're not in the story, or hell, even Kou or whatever characters you want. OR! If Gojyo and Hakkai are background characters, you can write THEIR POV of things, or take some action they do in the story and write about that

Argh... I still can't decide. Should I do it??? (I'm thinking not so much, because the fandom I'm most most interested in writing is not on the list and the others are very niche as well, things like Good Omens or Firefly)

Yeah, especially if you REALLY don't want to write HP and that's the only fandom you qualify in, because there's always a chance of getting that. Good Omens has 6 people who qualify but 13 who offered to write in it. Firefly has 17 qualifiers and 32 offers! You could luck out and get someone who writes in other fandoms you have in common besides what they qualified for - when I was assigned to inksheddings, I got her for HP, but she also wrote in Loveless which I remixed, and last year I offered to write in Kyo Kara Maou! and got Shay, who also wrote a Junjou Romantica fic that I chose to remix instead - but it's still a gamble.

Hahahahaha! Yay enabling! \o/ It's one of my favorite fests, even though the comment counts are never high, but that's not a factor for me because I love the whole idea of playing with other people's ideas and making them my own. I'm greedy that way. :-P

I actually didn't really tweak much - the code broke in the middle of doing assignments so there wasn't really time to do more than make sure everybody had a match.
