*sigh*

David Eddings, author of one of my favorite fantasy series (well, two - The Belgariad and its sequel, the Mallorean) passed away on June 3 at the age of 77.

Damn.

Time for yet another re-read, I think. Maybe some Silk can cheer me up.

(After I pick up best_of_five from the airport. *checks time* Um...Ah well, she's used to me being late. :-P)

sad things make me gloomy

I loved Eddings! We sold a lot of his work when I worked in a Borders in Tacoma, WA, because not only was he a wonderful author, but he was a Northwest Native.

Me too! Now I'll have to go search for fic for more stories from his universe. I know there's some on Yuletide, but it's not the same. :( I don't generally like short men, but damn, I'm such a Silk fangirl! :-P

OMG! I hadn't heard of this. He's one of my faves too. I re-read The Ellenium or Redemption of Althalus all the time.

*sniff* So sad. :^(

I just saw it tonight. *sigh* I still haven't read the Elenium, though I've been meaning to for ages - I was always so fixated on the Belgariad. (I love Silk. :-P) I'll have to pick them up.

Ha! I was exactly on time! Just as I pulled up, she came out with her luggage! I rock! She's sleeping right now. Obviously just using me for my apartment. :-P

His wife, Leigh who was his co-writer for pretty much everything, died two years ago. I didn't know that, so that also made me sad. :( But I still have his books, and I re-read them a lot, which, considering my Virgo pickiness (as WG would call it!) that says a lot. You should read the Belgariad series - starts with Pawn of Prophecy. It's one of those all-ages stories, and the characters are terrific. Especially Silk!

My husband has read all these books in the last year.
Belgariad series, The Malloreon series, & the Elenium.

I still haven't read the Elenium, but I've read the Belgariad and Mallorean so many times, the bindings are starting to wear out. :-P
