I really should be in bed, but I'm curious as to whether this (or similar) is happening to anyone else.

There's something funky with the LJ icon servers. At one point, I had some really creepy animated thing (that kind of looked like a penis) instead of my Potterpuffs Nev n Trev icon *points above* And a few days ago, instead of one of the WL gift icons showing up here, it was some nerdy Indian tech guy with glasses, although katesque didn't see it at all.

At one point, it was a known issue since people were afraid their accounts were being hacked into, but I guess it's just something funky with the servers. Check over in support -- you should be able to report it so they can check it out.

You're the first person I've heard of who only gets it intermittently and at a certain time every night though. Usually it's just a random event that stays. Although they do recommend you clear your cache too.

It's happening to lots of people at random, including me, but you're the first I've heard of with a specific time period!

It's always at night in the wee hours, and it's always this same icon. I never see it during the day. So weird.

I feel better that it's not just me - I thought I was going crazy for a while because nobody else saw it. :-P

That looks like Brian Molko from Placebo to me! FWIW, I've always just seen your regular icon, but I know what you mean.

When I go to my parents' house and get on lj, my default pic turns into an ice hockey icon. Not cool, LJ, not cool. Even though ice hockey is my favorite sport, I like my surly toon!self icon. XD

I would say more you are being haunted by the creepy icon. I also am always up at least once during the night and check LJ and my icon is still the Queen of Hearts...haunted I say. wow.

It's creepy! Though I suppose if it was a clown icon, that would be even creepier. :-P

I know! Tarie thinks it might be the lead singer of Placebo. I checked out some pics on google, and it's possible - it does look like him - but not being a fan, it's still creepy. :-P
