Just for the interesting record, while gemstone-quality diamonds are certainly a luxury item, you'd be amazed at just how many industrial processes rely on plentiful very-low-carat diamonds--in particular, much of the heavy manufacturing industries, diamond-encrusted grinding and sanding equipment makes a lot of processes significantly cheaper, easier, and more efficient.
