Got a cortisone shot in the back yesterday--I can't even express in words how much my back hurts right now; perhaps it was a poor decision to bake for the holiday for 5 hours after coming

GO GET IN BED - NOW !
After getting one of those shots in your back you should always take it easy. When I got them in my sholder the doctor told me to rest it and put ice on it.

LOL! I was in bed last night once all of the baking was done, cuddled up to an ice pack like a good little patient, and will be the same today until I have to leave to head to the in-laws. I've gotten several of these shots in my shoulder as well (well, collarbone to be exact--I had a non-union fracture of the distal clavicle, and even three surgeries later, I still need them in that area every two months or so, and need a fourth surgery on it as well. As for the herniated disc, I made it a full 6 weeks before needing another shot this time, and that's a marked improvement from last time!)

I'll be spending the holiday weekend in bed as much as possible, which basically means plenty of time to finish the concert program for my concert tuesday, and (drumroll please) plenty of time to be a good beta AND to get a bunch of chapters done for my story! Which is good news for everyone! :-)

Yes, new chapters! I can't do much of anything really this weekend, so lots of writing will get done by default--both stuff for school AND my story.

LOL! You know me too well!
Well, I willl get physical rest in terms of being laid up b/c of the shot, but maybe not sleep so much, although I slept today from like 5am-8am, then got up b/c jon wanted to take his car in to be fixed and needed me to follow him, but turns out he couldn't take it where he wanted to b/c they were closed, so he hed to take it to another place which was within walking distance...so I went back to sleep from 8am-11:15am, which is something! :-)

As for MENTAL rest, well, that's most certainly another story. Bammie's trying to get me to take a few moments every day to just turn my brain off and meditate for like, 5 mins, to try to gain peace of mind, and I was like "peace of mind? rest? what is this...rest you speak of? do i need a prescription for it, or is it an illegal drug to be found in only the seedist parts of the NYC?"
