[Saturday - After the funeral - Muds]

Oct 27, 2008 01:00

The service was not terribly drawn out; the Tusspots had never been a very religious family and James hadn't wanted a funeral that didn't suit him. He was a simple man with simple tastes, and his funeral reflected that. It wasn't terribly well-attended, just as Stu had assumed it would be. James hadn't known many people beyond a small, close circle ( Read more... )

Muds isn't very good with funerals, either. He hasn't been to many. This is probably the saddest, thus far. Throughout the service, Murdoc just sat to the back, head down, and tried not to call attention to himself. He dressed nicely, having plenty of black to do so, and he's mostly sober. More than he has been in recent weeks, anyway. He feels a little sick because of it, but he smoked half of a joint to keep the sickness back for this.

Once everything is over but the crying, Murdoc sets out to find Stu. He comes up slow, head down, not knowing how well his company is going to be tolerated.

"...Hey..."

Stu lifts his head and gives a sad little smile; any sort of company will be tolerated at the moment.

"...hey. I, uhm. I didn't notice you were here. I mean...I didn't notice much of anything, really. Uhm...thanks. For...you know."

"Um... Yeah. I was in the back, y'know, so I didn't expect you to..."

He bites his lip. This is not a situation he's comfortable with. Muds doesn't begin to know what to say or do.

"...You sang really well..."

One hand moves over the pack of cigarettes in his pocket, considering taking one out.

"Do you ..um...shit...do you want a hug or something?"

Stu's not terribly comfortable either, so they're even. Still, he's glad to have someone there.

"Thanks...Mother thought it would be...I dunno...that dad would've liked it." He gives a little shrug and squints down at the ground.

The question gets a little nod in response. "...yes, please. If...I mean, if it's okay. If you don't want to, that's okay, too..." He's so not good at this.
