Hank's waiting. It gets dark, eventually.

And then someone walks out of the circle.

"Mr. Gerrard," he says, closing the book.

"I am Mike," the man says, his voice oddly resonant. Different.

"And how are you, Mike?"

"Full... of fun."

"Welcome to Deer Meadow," Hank says, wary and greasy at the same time.

"I am not your guide," the man says, disdainfully. "You made a choice, tonight."

He walks past the sheriff, shoulders brushing. "There are sacrifices."

"Where's Cable, huh?" Hank calls after him. "Wasn't that a sacrifice?"

"He meant nothing to you." Mike doesn't turn. "And your debt was already great."

"What about Norma?" Hank shouts after him. "Fear and love!"

"Norma." There's another man in the circle. His suit is conservative; his tie is dark. There's a splotch of creamed corn on one dark dress shoe. "Tell me about Norma."

"And who are you?" Hank asks.

"FBI," the man barks. He raises his head. "Fidelity, Bravery, Integrity." He grins, his teeth wide and strong and gleaming. "I need to brush my teeth."

Silently, Hank takes the sunglasses from his breastpocket and passes them over.
