barriers to meditation

When your mind wanders during meditation, you're supposed to gently without judging bring your mind back to your breath and follow it. For me, I end up laying there mentally saying "in, out, in, out, in, out, ..." which only distracts me further.

I always found that to be the case as well. "I am.. relaxed..." or whatever. I would get so wrapped up with how I was supposed to do it the "right" way, that I always found it very difficult to actually be relaxed. Visualization works better for me.

I did a guided meditation through an online freebie, wish I could remember what it was, but I felt it was easier to focus while being TOLD what to do than trying to tell myself what to do. Easier to let go, or something. Oh yeah, the Silva method. They send you free information and audio files in e-mails for a while, then try to get you to buy stuff, but the free stuff was helpful.
