Find a small community you like, and stick with that, ignore the wider world as much as you can.

So... everyone here are basically saying that everyone should stop caring about the state of the Jewish community as a whole and only focus on their own little slice of the world ( ... )

IMO the Jewish community is way too diverse to be able to care about it in it's entirety.

And the Rabanim = mini gods is a Charedi thing. Those who do something about it simply become... not Charedi.

I might be getting this wrong, but I thought the whole point of large bits of the Bible to show that the Jewish people are judged as a people. So, if a statistically large enough part of said people were to start doing crazy things, it would show that the community as a whole was failing and up for judgment ( ... )

So which Gadol should we follow? Which 'flavor' of Judaism should be picked to be The Right One?

IMO the Charedim are so busy telling everyone else what they're doing wrong, blaming Tznius for the Evils Of The World that they're not trying to fix the damage in their own communities. And at the other end you've got Reform and Reconstructionists who think that everything BUT God is the right way to go.

And BTW, it's not just incumbent upon me to tell the nuts to tone down the fanaticism but to get the other 'bad Jews' like you, back on the True Path. Would you like that, or would you rather have friends and a religion that says 'your relationship with God is between you and Him.'
