Energy Data: Follow Up

Last year in June I reported how my energy usage had sunk since I had unplugged my printer. In the last couple of weeks, I've done an extensive investigation of my energy usage. I've learned:

Really? I always thought that surge protection is power strips was purely passive, and that the switch disconnects the power so it's at least as good as the surge in the strip. Can you tell me more?

It took me a while to figure it out, but I've come to the determination that I was wrong in stating this. In my defense, the person who told me was one of the IT guys where I work. He sends out a quarterly newsletter with IT info, including the above. It did not sound right to me either, so I asked him in person if I was understanding it right and he affirmed again that one should not turn off one's power strip, etc.

Sili me, thinking someone in IT was infallible.

OH, you and B should come to my neighborhood immediately for Honey ice-cream with me.

Your efforts in electricity saving inspiring me last month. I did some stuff and our electric bill is down about $30! And that's only from part of the month...
