Yah. That's the jist. I'm pouty.

Yesterday I found a 1912 framed Maxfield Parrish print of the Frog Prince on the cover of Harpers in our garage (I kinda had remembered from childhood) I was all excited and was going to use it to decorate my room ( Read more... )

Holy shit.... That sucks.....I see lovely old fantasy prints all the time water stained beyond saving at estate sales.....
Recently,I found a lovely portrait of Louise Brooks that was once in an oval frame that was still on the old backing......
Sadly it has some damage around the edges from no glass...But it was free and I plane to reframe it with acid free materials.
Once I found a lovely 1920s print of GF Watts Hope behind an ugly forest scene and sadly there were two little spots where the old cardboard backing had weakened the print.
Since it was only a $1 and still presentable,I repainted the tacky silver frame to match the print and had it backed with acid free materials....

Well, I ebay'd it and a found a reproduction of the Frog Prince issued in 1974 for 99 cents, so I put in a bid. It's actually in a lot of 6 different prints, so while they won't be as nice, I'm sure. But I'll still get to put it up!

Estate sales, I think I'll have to start haunting, well, after I order my spring plantings and replace the rose bushes the lawnmower guy killed.

There are two prints I really want. Maxfield Parrish`s Evening of his daughter Jean sitting nude on a rock in a lake.
And Isabella and the Pot of Basil. Created by Jason alexander White.
