Don't apologize!! It's crazy frustrating and it needs to be vented!! Social Studies was my concentration - it kills me that I am left to squeeze it in where possible because it's "not as important" as the other subjects. Urgh.

Let's hope for the sake of our generation of teachers that the views change. It's not the same profession it used to be by a long shot!

And what kills me is, these people were all once students. They all had a special teacher in their life, maybe more. What went so horribly wrong that you think a licensed educator with years and years of college and experience under their belt is incompetent? I have had some really bad experiences with teachers. I think I can think of maybe one teacher in middle school that was awesome and nice to me and had a library and I could borrow books and that was great I guess -- and a lot more that either didn't care about me at at all, or in one case, literally told my parents that bullying was acceptable because 'her accent is just so funny, y'know'. I also remember the guy that didn't teach us anything for about 6 months before enough parents complained and all of our group got transferred to a different teacher. (Seriously. We spent nearly every day doing word searches and watching movies ( ... )

WHAT. OMG. That's horrible!!!!

I know that people have bad experiences - I've had a few myself (although I think yours far outpace mine...holy crap, girl, God bless you). What I don't understand is how this translates in our society to "teachers know nothing". It's almost like an oxymoron!

Well, my mother was the hero here -- she chewed the woman out pretty hard for this. I'd mock it now, from my vantage point of being a self-assured adult, but it was actually pretty unacceptable.

. What I don't understand is how this translates in our society to "teachers know nothing".

Yeah, I don't either. And it is bullshit, and self-fulfilling bullshit -- way to piss off and disenchant all the good teachers out there by being assholes. (>.<) I am really sorry you have to deal with that.

Your mom rocks. I still can't believe a teacher said that to you!

Thanks, hun <3
