The first thought that struck me was, wow, they're so mature. You "age" them well, really good characterization. I love that Annie still retains some girlishness around him, it's only natural. You have to feel sorry for the ex-future Mrs. Winger who has had to deal with both Britta and Annie, and this is how it would totally go.

Yeah, I agree, it would have to be very awkward/uncomfortable for her.

I enjoyed all the ways you allowed us to see how time has passed - Annie is 'Ann', the study group reunions, Annie's - and maybe Britta's, too - unspoken, not-entirely-recognized regret. You handled the flashback really well. I really enjoyed that you let things unfold rather than trying to explain it all.

This is lovely. I like how you've convincingly aged Annie up without losing the core of the character, and the ambiguity of their feelings for each other. I definitely think you could expand this into something longer, if you wanted - I'd be interested to know more about Beth, for example.

Thank you! I do have it in the back of my head to do something more with this; I find the idea of future fic in this fandom interesting in general, and it was enjoyable to write this bit of it.
