Liz decides to elope with Wesley after a long night of thinking about her (crappy) life. Floyd's married and I'm going to die alone (she said this to Jack once, and he replied, "Everyone dies alone, Lemon; The Notebook was not a documentary," and she wondered if he saw the movie -- during a night with a twenty-two-year-old he wanted to boff? -- or has Jonathan give him plot summaries of different films and TV shows so he has a lot of references at hand.) When Liz calls she's a little too drunk, and Wesley's a little too eager (is he more pathetic than she is or happy he won?). They fight all the way to Atlantic City (on a bus, which is not pleasant), they fight about Atlantic City (she calls the buildings dilapidated, while he insists they're simple and charming, and "Oh, Bennie's Boob Shack is *charming*?"), and she feels depressed that she's not getting impulsively married in Las Vegas, which would at least be... better than Atlantic City.
After they're back in New York, standing silently in Port Authority, her shoulders slump. "I guess I should invite you back to my place."
"We should settle our affairs before we begin to merge our lives."
"I'm asking you to have a 'we got married' drink with me, not to move in."
"Well, naturally. We're going to live in my apartment."
"Naturally." She's sick of arguing.
She calls Jack later that night. "I'm married. Yay." There's a long silence. She checks her phone to see if it's dead. "Jack?"
"You're married."
"To Wesley. I settled. So I'm not going to die alone. And, no, I don't think Wesley and I are going to die at the same moment, but I want live with someone... Jack?"
This time, he doesn't answer. Within the hour, he's at her front door.
