She's been having dreams about punching Jack in the face. These types of reveries aren't entirely new to Liz; the first two months she knew him, giving him a smack was a recurrent theme in her fantasies. But these dreams are different, as they aren't the result of finding him to be an oppressive irritant, but of her... being in love with him. Still.
Although maybe she isn't. Maybe she's just upset because he's quite obviously moved on, is always calm and content and fine with them being over. He even has a new girlfriend, a Republican pundit who's been a staple on Fox News (gross). He keeps mentioning how great it is to finally be on the same page with someone. Whether he's saying this to hurt her or is clueless that it would, it... more than hurts.
So. The dreams still could be about him as an oppressive irritant.
But if that were the case, she wouldn't think about kissing him, wouldn't feel her heart skip a beat every time he touched her, wouldn't think of grabbing his arm and saying something about how she was wrong to break up with him on the grounds that they'd never work, because maybe they would've if she'd let them, and how she wishes he still loved her. She wouldn't still want to be around him despite everything.
And, yeah. There wouldn't be those punch-heavy dreams.
There's nothing she can do about any of this, really. She just has to get over him while pretending she already is, as he continues to walk around all happy until she ends up actually punching him. Yeah, see how fine you are after a punch, Jack.
Oh, this is not good. No, no, it's okay. She got over Floyd. Eventually. She'll get over Jack.
Eventually.
She has to.
