I enjoy her smoky, soulful sound. I am looking forward to giving her newer work a listen. :)

yea! i actually ran up to Caesar's in Atlantic City a few weeks ago to see her in concert. when i sat down i noticed about 1/2 the crowd was my age-ish...and the other 1/2 were 65+. i was really baffled. i love looking at who is in the audience.

when 3 much older ladies sat down next to me i leaned over and asked, "so. you guys are into Fiona Apple?" (i couldn't think of a kinder way to say, "wtf?")

she said, "no we got tickets comped for free...we are big gamblers". *ahhhhhh*

to top off the bizarreness, Fiona comes ROARING out with her first song, "fast as you can". http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NbxqtbqyoRk

as soon as the song ends and she takes a pause, almost 1/2 the audience stands up and walks out! ha! i think they were expecting britney spears or something from her photo. some of the older people hung on for awhile...but every time a song ended, another wave walked out. hilarious.
