If it's anything like the oil heaters I've dealt with, any disassembly breaks the seals and then it leaks oil forever afterwards.

I would very much like people to build more longer-life, repair- or recycle-friendly products. Sadly, profit is king for now.

Oil column? Is that like a radiator filled with oil and an electrical element that heats it?

We have one of those. The casters on the bottom broke off and Alaric fixed them back with a weld.

I run into this sort of thing at work all the time -- things that run into simple failures that should be easy to fix, except I'd have to pretty much destroy the object to get to the parts that I need to access in order to do it. (And yeah, it's extremely frustrating.)
