every time i see that still of him in the leather harness thing, i wonder who's pet he is. because without even seeing it, i'm *absolutely sure* no one would dress him up in that get-up if the movie *wasn't* supposed to be pr0n-y...
It really was a very strange movie... Here's a summary I wrote some time ago.
Based on the novella by Hans Henny Jahnn, the story evolves around what seems like a dream sequence for a man. Surreal events take place within this dream, including the introduction of several strange characters. Eselein appears as a hotel bellboy but you get the impression that he is far more than this as he interacts with the dreamer.
Eventually, the tale unfolds through increasingly surreal circumstances until it becomes apparent that these may be the last few moments of Mathieu's life after a terrible beating.
