Mr Meat:

I came up with this name a looooong time ago when the internets was but an awkward middle schooler (early to mid 1990's). I used to hang out in a chatroom and went by the name of "Adobo" (not the Latin American seasoning, the Filipino dish). They started calling me "doob" for short, and then one of the girls called me "Doobie". So, one day, I saw the word "dubious", and connected it with "doobie", hence "Doobieous".

I use a few other names depending upon my mood. Anahaw is one name, which is the Filipino name for the Livistona rotundifolia tree (the national palm tree of the Philippines). I also use "Dypsis", which is a genus of palms from Madagascar (I just like the name). Another is Oxytone, which is a linguistic term for final stressed syllables. If that one is taken, I use Paroxytone, which is the term for second to last stressed syllables.

Thanks so much for sharing how you picked your screen names. It's definitely helpful to see how other people went through the decision making process. Although, you don't seem to be specially attached to the names you've chosen. There are so many! This is actually a great example of something I'd like to avoid. A good analogy to your screen name history would be the Ant Man-Giant Man-Goliath-Yellowjacket-Dr. Pym-Yellowjacket-Ant Man, etc.... journey of Hank Pym. I think that my next screen name, when I find it, will have to last well into the future.
I doubt that XLGMeat will dissappear as a screen name, but I'd like to think that there's another name, somewhere, that can serve as a synthesis of what you've seen of me before, and what is yet to come.

14 or 15 years ago, I first logged on as GJsee (a play on GJC which are my initials). Like you I needed a chat room name and modified a friend's handle and came up with TexasFurr. When I moved here, I wanted to come up with a name that would take the place of TexasFurr. I came up with Beg1n which I thought was great as I meant it as a personal start over. Everyone else sees it as Beg-one-in like I'm a submissive power bottom. :) So, now I'm thinking of a new one as well.

Funny, I've been thinking the same thing about my handle lately. It started out as an AOL and gay.com screenname and had stuck with me for several years now - and it's not my nom de plume on numerous websites. Although it does describe me, I feel at times that people see the name, and that's all they see - the naked part of the name is titillating and they don't seem to look further (I got that during March last year when I did the Ask Me anything deal - all of the first questions were about nothing but my being naked...I had to put my foot down and tell people that there was more to me than just being naked...so I decided to sit it out this year).

But what name do I use instead? I'd most likely leave nakednsf on all those other sites. But here, I could see me using another name. I used to use twodolphin (in reference to my tattoo), but I'm not sure that works for me any more.

(And as a side note - spending time with you yesterday was the definite highlight of the weekend! We need to get back to doing more of that - beer bust or

I could see how the handle could get old as it is only a small part (well, large part as the case may be) of who you are. I sort of fell into Dendren but it really does suit me and have zero desire to change it at this point. As much as I like the xlgmeat nick for ya, I know you mentioned it was time for a change long ago... maybe this time it really is. Sadly, I don't know ya well enough to suggest anything besides "reallyhotguywithagreatsmile"... which would be just as limiting methinks ;)

"reallyhotguywithagreatsmile"... hmm.... I'm blushing, and of course, I'm flattered. But I'd hate to walk up to someone and say, "Hi, I'm reallyhotguywithagreatsmile!" A lot of people tell me that I talk to fast and that I mumble, so imagine what that mouthful could end up as if I start mutilating it.

I also have a serious issue with people who can't wait to announce their own anything (hotness, greatness, maturity, wisdom, intelligence, popularity, coolness, buff-ocity, studliness...) I think you get the picture.

I like your screen name, and I agree, it suits you. It allows you to create the personality that you want around it, without creating an expectation of you are...

well... you *are* a really hot guy with a great smile, but you are right, it would be a bad screen name. For some people, that sort of self-description works just fine and dandy (depending on what they want to get from the screen name itself) but just the little I know you, you seem quite a bit deeper than that. For a while I used the handle SJPhil, but I didn't like my city defining me let alone if had had chosen something as descriptive as nice_dicked_bottom_guy or the like. If that was all I was looking for online that would be fine... but for me it just don't work that way ( ... )

I friended you back, and I'll have to thank Jeff properly the next time I see him! I haven't posted much in the last year or so, but some of my older stuff was well received. Check out the memories section for the juicy stuff. I hope you find some of it interesting.
