 okay, i need a little help here. i'd like to share a video but i can't figure out how to embed it. the media icon just tells me to enter the embed code, and the lj help center says to get embed codes from the place i'm wanting to get the media from.. but it doesn't tell me how to find the codes.

If it's on YouTube, the embed code will be on the page your video is on. There will be a bit about embedding, and then a box with the code in it (though you won't be able to see the whole code line, I think), so you can go to the top of your browser, hit Edit, then Find (on this Page) and tell it to look for "embed." You'll be able to copy/paste it from there into LJ.

Not familiar enough with other sites to advise you, though.

holy carp.. i've been looking at the wrong thing. i thought it was under the video in the share options or something. it's to the right on youtube. thanks! ^_^

And if you ever want to LJ-link someone, you just put < lj username="username" > without the spaces at the beginning and end (still need the one between lj and username).
