The Remains of M's Office, Monday Morning (05/07)

May 07, 2007 11:44

The look on M's face made it very clear that she was not at all pleased about the state of her office. Or what had formerly been her office, and was now a pair of walls and a pile of rubble surrounding two heavy, fireproof cabinets.

Well, at least the files and her equipment were intact.

Annette knocked tentatively on the door, or what was left of the door.

"M?"

"Come in, Hargrove," M said dryly, not bothering to look toward the door. "You have good timing, there's something here I wanted to give you, if I can find the blasted thing."

Her brows shot upwards. She never in a million years thought M would give her anything. Other than what she's already given her.

Annette walked in carefully amid the rubble. "I wanted to tell you goodbye..."

"Shift that piece of wood over," M told Annette, waving her hand at what looked like a section of paneling. She didn't acknowledge the girl's statement, but with M that didn't necessarily mean she hadn't heard.

"You'll be continuing your education here, I understand," she said, as she pushed a piece of rubble aside with her foot.

John raps on her door. Which was lying atop a pile of rubble.

M looked up from where she'd just managed to get to her filing cabinet and raised an eyebrow at John.

"Something I can do for you, Connor?"

"Take care of yourself off the island, Teach?" he said, innocently.

Calling her 'Teach' earned John a bit of a glare, but M cocked her head and studied him a moment before nodding.

"There's a rather large group of government employees who do that for me," she remarked.

Why, that was very nearly a joke.

"Uh, you need any help cleaning this up?"

M had just finished checking the condition of the files in the cabinet, and turned her head to look at Billy as he walked in.

"I have some people coming to move out the important items. The rest will have to be someone else's problem. Although, for your sake, I hope not the students' problem."

"Yeah me too. I'm guessing you're out of here soon then."

"Later today, in fact," M replied, with a nod. "And you? Are you staying on for the summer?"
