I am aware that this is hopelessly silly.

It's ridiculous really. I am totally terrified whenever I post anything to communities - whether it's icons, fanmixes or fanfiction - that someone will turn around to me and say this is pathetic. You cannot post this.

completely and utterly understandable - because I think so many people feel this fear. but if you are talking about the second-person Lestrade fic then you really shouldn't feel it.

Thank you :) I'm trying to get past it and I'm succeeding, to an extent - this time two years ago I'd be terrified just at the prospect of joining LJ, so it is getting better. I'm just a really nervous person, ha.

Age makes no difference. Practice is what makes the difference. The more you write, the more your skills improve. All this practice and posting will make you a good teacher one day. You'll understand your students' fear of putting their words and emotions on display.
