Papa was a rodeo (Mama was a rock n' roll band) (NCIS crossover with many others)

Jul 29, 2008 18:53

Sometimes, when I'm in the middle of a very long fic (NCIS/SGA at 32,000 words 4srsktnx), I like to try a little writing exercise. Today's exercise is a set of ascending drabbles (100 words, then 200 words, etc.) on a character I've never ficced before. Results are:

Papa was a rodeo (Mama was a rock n' roll band)The five stages of grief of Dr. ( Read more... )

type: standalones but not drabbles, type: 5 things, fic: ncis, fic: bones, fic: highlander, fic: supernatural, fic: gilmore girls, fic: pretender

Very nice! (She got rid of that amulet, right?)

...and now I want to read your crossover. :-)

Thanks :) (Yes, she got rid of the amulet along the way and thus survived the night).

And the crossover is going to be good, if I may say so. It's a good read. Hopefully I'll be done before Friday so I don't have to re-write for the SGA ep :P

Very interesting. I never would have thought to look at anything from Jeanne's POV.

... ditto on the wanting of the crossover. :)

I hadn't thought of it either, until I was playing with the "who haven't I written yet?" game. Informative exercise.

And the crossover hopefully before Friday so I don't have to retcon any new SGA canon ;)

Coooool!!! Loved the Bobby one because that is a great way to connect them!

:-)

Jeanne is interesting to play with and at times hard too...

The Bobby one was a little inspired, I think. It's a lovely way to connect Jeanne to the SPN world.

And I hear you on it being hard to write Jeanne - she was really only presented through Tony's eyes and that's not an easy place to be.

I love the scene in your icon. That whole episode was inspired.

All of my Jeanne glimpses have been on the angsty side. I see through Tony's eyes to her, but what he sees and what has to be going on inside are really, really different. I haven't even touched what happened in Internal Affairs between them yet.

In other news, I am now officially SGA versed. I have watched all the seasons and caught up on the eps for the new season I had recorded on DVR until I got caught up. :-)

I love my Tony... therefore, I love my Tony icons! :-)

SGA for the win! With its militaryness (is that even a word?) it works well with NCIS. Also, one can play with the Air Force vs. the Marines. But I'm totally sold on the crossover, so you'll have to forgive me :)

Tony is made of love. Poor boy never catches a break. I sure hope he's back next season. I'm carefully avoiding spoilers because I don't want to know, just to see the episodes!

Yay! That was really well done, enjoyable and made me like Jeanne a lot more.

Also, great writing trick. Clever way to stretch the writing muscles, get the mind in another gear and still sharpen your skills. Wow! :)

Part of what motivated me to write this was that I was rather uncertain as to where I stood on Jeanne's character. She didn't exactly leave on the best note, and I wanted to work through some of her reasoning. Another part of the exercise :)

I will need to keep this in mind for the next time I'm in a writing rut.

And I'm glad you enjoyed!
