Nice and creepy chapter. I like how maternal Anita is, despite how much she didn't want to be in the start of all this. Love how insistent Dawn is that it was Buffy trying to reach her. Nice touch with Tammy.

Good. Creepy was what I was going for. This part of the story is the first time we have Buffy in this story... but how much is dream and how much reality? We'll get there in the end. Who know how far Buffy will go to "save" her sister?

Nasty. They REALLY need to sit down with Dawn and persuade her to tell them the full story.

Thing is, Dawn has been telling them the story, but they won't believe it. She really tried with the Glory issue, but Anita refuses to buy it. I can't imagine a scenario, barring Buffy literally dropping into Anita's cheerios from a portal in the ceiling, where Anita would buy the story coming from a five-year-old girl.

I do have a way out of this for Dawn, but it's complicated.

Interesting. I don't remember what I thought about 'what the next chapter is gonna be about', but I'm sure this wasn't on the list.
Have I mentioned recently what a captivating writer you are? Always leaving me hungry for more.....

I must say, you wrote the reactions of the adults very well from Dawn's point of view, so their thoughts remained mostly opaque for me too. I'm so bad at undercurrents.... (Point in fact, a wedding invitation I just received yesterday. I thought it was just sent pro forma and I was planning to decline. However, apparently, that would be a big social gaff and an insult. I just thought about convenience for the overworked bride!)

Hee. I know what you mean -- I had made a note back after I wrote chapter 12 to do the blood portal thing, and then promptly forgot about it (how, I have no idea. How does one forget something like that?). Luckily, I happened upon said note before starting this chapter.

The adults' reactions are hard for Dawn to see, because she can't imagine a world where they'd think she was lying, or worse, that she had been told things by crazy people. Which is how Anita et al are leaning at this point. But all in those undercurrents that Dawn sees but doesn't process.

And I don't get wedding etiquette either, so I feel your pain.

Woah! A very chilling revisit. Not at all what I was expecting.

icon love.

And yes, this chapter has been stewing in my brain for some time. This may be one of the reasons I've been writing such dark stuff lately. Hrm.

I gakked it from Invisionary actually so I can't take credit. It comes from one of my absolute favourite Calvin & Hobbes cartoons. If you've not seen it I can post a copy.

Why-for Dawn always have crappy stuff happen to her, that leaves her feeling full of guilt and emo-angst? I like happy silly Dawnie.

That said, great chapter, Mhal. Now when are we going to see more from Physics of the Spin? I need my Rory McKay fix!
