Wonderful job. I loved it.
I love those last few line. Only Serenity knew.

Thanks :) As strange as it sounds, I think that Kaylee can't keep any secrets from her ship.

I think you are absolutely right. I think the ship knows much much more than anyone realizes, but it won't tell. ;-)
Again, thank you for the story.

I love how you've captured Kaylee's essence; she has a very direct voice and seems very honest, especially with herself. After reading this...I just feel morose. And now that I'm rethinking the story, I'm starting to cry. Mhalachai! How can you write something so heartwrenching and beautiful?

I agree, that Kaylee's particular form of bluntness does cut through the bafflegab (mostly shown in her reaction to Simon).

How can you write something so heartwrenching and beautiful?

I dunno. But I will tell you this. I started tearing up while I wrote this in the coffee shop this morning. Down right embarassing. I think what prompted me to write this was the very brief shots of Kaylee with that child on Haven, the one I named Mathias for the story. It seemed right to have her greive all the dead, not just the ones that we, the viewers, knew best.

Thank you. I belong to the "Last line, most impact" school of writing :)

This was terrific. Very Kaylee. If the events of Serenity don't force everyone to do some maturing, nothing else will.

Indeed. Kaylee is the heart of that ship, and I think that the events of the movie will cause her to... not grow up, but to age in certain ways.

I do so love Jewel Staite
