It's here! Last year's NaNoMaChines challenge was a success that saw quite a few submissions (they can be checked out here and here), as was the warm-up round for this year's fun several days ago. Onwards to NaNoMaChines 2011!
I'm not sure I can do it in any time slot. Wednesdays are choir practice for me, and I work during the days (ignore the fact that I participated in that other one last Tuesday, please).
I do have a good story idea, though. It's bizarre but definitely off-canon.
Bizarre is never out of left field in MGS! We've added a third timeslot since this post was made, so please check on the off-chance that might work for you?
I DARE YOU TO SELL ME ON SNAKE'S REVENGE I DARE YOU
XD actually, something about the characters going to space could be good, it's one of the main themes of MGS after all. Yes, absolutely. The way I see it as not fitting the challenge would be if they just were there for no in-story reason, like is often seen with high school AUs that aren't connected to any situation from the original canon. A scenario like "BB goes to space instead of Snake Eater and how this affects the MGS universe" would be awesome and appropriate.
Anyway, I also have a premise that I'm not sure can be written in three hours. In before I write a wish-fulfilling "what if BB went back to Zero after PW" instead (though good luck making that return seem unforced. Or maybe forced would just make it work. FFF).
I was thinking of writing it in retrospect, set some time after PW where they're reminiscing about how they made peace with each other once upon a time and the world isn't all screwed over for it, perhaps using flashbacks to show that it wasn't a one-time deal that just Resolved Everything. But your idea would work nicely too (or they could be combined). Then again, I write tons of BB/Zero as it is... [For comparison's sake, my "premise" sort of vague idea is something that was first prompted by a Rule 63 request for Kaz, except I'd change it from "Kaz as a woman" to "Kaz as FTM". I have a whole separate canon outlined for it, specifically how it would reflect on his Cipher spying (Zero would be both helping and exploiting him in this; well, more than he otherwise does) but I doubt it'd fit into a three-hour project. BUT I've entertained this idea for a while and probably won't get off my arse to write it without a deadline, and fandom needs more non-cis characters, especially ones whose entire story doesn't revolve around it. I think
