And now, on to pricing and ordering!

FAQ

Q: Is this for-profit?
A: Nope! This is a completely non-profit collaborative project put together by fans from over half a dozen countries. As explained earlier in the pricing breakdown, each copy is being sold and shipped for exactly the cost incurred by its production and distribution, meaning nothing is lost or gained.

Q: But why did you raise the price from $11.76 to $12.00?
A: The price has been raised for two reasons: to simplify ordering, and to compensate for unanticipated costs. These costs include: mistakes customers made in calculating shipping (before flat rate was mandated), incidental expenses (extra packaging supplies, transportation costs) and incidental surcharges (Paypal fees for refunds, improperly submitted payments, etc). For a first-time project, things have been remarkably successful; however, mistakes happen on both ends, and this is a means by which we can keep our heads above water while still delivering to you the same high-quality product for a very low price. (Even with the extra $0.24 tacked on, I am still facing debts because of this, so please consider this from my perspective.)

Q: What service do you use to send my order?
A: As explained above, I use Priority Mail flat rate through USPS for most domestic orders, and Priority Mail International for non-U.S. orders. Shipping time is about 3-10 days.

Q: Can you guarantee delivery by [________]?
A: Delivery times are no more guaranteed by me than they would be by the U.S. mail service during Christmas time... which is when these are being shipped out. So yes, everything will be done to mail as speedily as your order is processed, but please respect that the holiday season makes timing a little unreliable, even for expedited shipments.

Q: How long does processing take?
A: Processing begins as soon as your order is received. All copies are individually signed, numbered, and contain a personal doodle in the back of the book. However, your order is not finalized or shipped until the transfer has completed. Paypal can take anywhere from zero time to several days to transfer funds and checks/money orders will take a little longer to clear, obviously, given they have to physically be mailed and will take ~3 days to show up. Once payment has been successfully transferred, all effort will be made to ship within 5 business days. Please refer to "what service do you use to send my order?" for notes on shipping times.

Q: What if my order is damaged or lost in transit?
A: Because this is a not-for-profit venture, compensating for the mail service's loss is something I quite frankly cannot afford, sorry. However, if you live in the U.S. you can buy shipping insurance for $1.75. Be absolutely sure to specify that you are requesting shipping insurance on the Paypal "Message" form (see the payment instructions above). If your copy is damaged or lost and there are no replacements left, I will gladly send you a free electronic back-up as a .pdf and draw you a doodle of an MGS character of your choosing. It will be the best doodle I am able to make.

Q: Do you offer refunds without shipping insurance?
A: I can refund an uninsured order under two circumstances: before the order is marked as sent (contact me immediately), or if it is sent back undamaged. Sorry, personally dedicated copies cannot be returned. All buyers are responsible for return shipping.

Q: I can't afford this! They've got this recession thing going on!
A: Fear not. A free .pdf will be made available for download once all available printed copies have sold out! This .pdf is open for anyone to download, whether they have purchased a hard copy or not. So, guilt all your friends into buying copies, and you'll see a .pdf in no time.

Q: I am a contributor in this volume. Do I get a complimentary copy?
A: I'd love to be able to help out our many amazing contributors as would any publisher, fan-based or not. Unfortunately, as I've explained above, this project is completely non-profit and doesn't have the resources to spare in order to provide contributors with their own complimentary copies. However, also as mentioned, there will be a free .pdf made available in this comm after the print run has sold out.

Q: Do you offer discount shipping for multiple copies?
A: Not at this juncture, for the simple reason that copies are currently shipped at flat rate.

Q: Do you have any tools for international customers who need help understanding weight or currency conversion?
A: Sure do. Here is a good resource for understanding the breakdown of English units of weight and length, and here is a universal currency converter.

Q: Are you doing another Fanbook for 2010?
A: It's a distinct possibility! Tune in starting in April 2010 for news about whether there will be a 2010 volume!
