Last Week in Konoha: Night One, Part Two
Led by Tsnunade, Naruto made his way back to the party, which was now in full swing. A small band had been set up in one corner of the room, they had just finished a jazzy dance number, and were slowing down to some light ambient music. Many people were gathered around the table
Lee and Guy had moved across the room. In his absence, it had been covered in platters of snack food, and large bowls of punch. He had just entered the room when a hand fell on his shoulder.
"Hello Naruto, are you enjoying the party?" Guy asked with a smile.
"Hey Super Bushy Brow Sensei. Yeah, it's been pretty good so far, though I think it's going to get better."
"Yes, now that Lord Hiashi is gone, we can all unwind. He gets very upset when people behave in an unseemly way. He also will not allow alcohol in the same room with him. Honestly, though he is a good person, I think everyone is relieved he's gone"
"Yeah, especially Granny Tsunade, ha!" Naruto said when he saw Tsunade make her way straight to the bar that had been set up.
"Yes, the Hokage certainly does like her sake. I think I'll head over there and get a glass myself, see ya." Guy said as he also walked towards the bar. Most of the Jonin were there, trying to unwind after putting in a long day, many of them had only just returned from missions when they received the invitation. Naruto made his way over to a group of his fellow genin.
"Hey Naruto, what's up?" Shikamaru asked, turning away from Ino.
"Just trying to enjoy the party, what about you Shikamaru?"
"Ah man, this party is nothing but one big drag. Having to get dressed up just so I can eat a meal and talk with people I see every day, what a bore."

"Ugh....He's not the only one Sasuke hurt ya know. Sakura and I got together and cried our eyes out, because we knew we would never see him again, and so our love would go on unreturned forever." Ino said, tears welling in her eyes.
"Aw man....I'm sorry Ino, I didn't mean to be so mean. I've just been under a lot of stress lately, It's not easy being a replacement squad leader, ya know."
"That's ok Shikamaru. I promised myself I wouldn't get like that again, but seeing Naruto so hurt, and then you saying that, I just snapped a little, I guess."
"Hey guys, whats goin' on?" Choji asked walking up with a plate full of snacks and glass of punch.
"Choji, how thoughtful, getting us all snacks." Ino reached for the top most cookie, but Choji pulled the plate away.
"I don't think so Ino, if you want snacks, you can get'em yourself. These are mine."
"Fine, if you don't want to be a gentleman and share that's fine by me. I'm on a diet anyway." Ino stormed off in huff.
"Heh, thanks Choji, she was starting to get depressed again."
"Yeah, I saw that, so I figured the best way of snapping her out of it was acting like a jerk. You want some, Shikamaru?" Choji asked with an arched eyebrow.
"Maybe if we can sneak away later, but for now I'll just have a brownie" Shikamaru took a brownie from the stack and bit down, savoring the dark chocolate.

"Hey Kiba, what's up?" Naruto asked as he walked up to him.

"When does Shino get back?"
"I asked The Hokage, and she said he and his father would be back in a few days. I just hope he's ok, he's never been on mission that's lasted this long."

"He's much better now. He's up and walking again, and Hana says I can start taking him for regular walks tomorrow."

"Naruto, you don't need to apologize. Akamaru and I were injured in the line of duty, helping a friend. Besides, we're shinobi, we knew that something like this could happen to us, or our friends. The only thing I've taken away from that experience is that I need to become even stronger, so that Akamaru will never be hurt like that again." "Wow, thanks Kiba. If there's ever anything I can do for you, just let me know."

Instead of making her blend into the background, like she'd wanted it to do, it made her stand out more, since most everyone else was wearing brightly colored kimonos. It also seemed to bring out her latent beauty, make her skin seem more
creamy, and her hair darker, she looked beautiful.
"I keep tellin' ya Hinata, you look beautiful, trust me."

"So he got drunk, it was probably a laugh. Prim and proper Rock Lee stumbling all over the place." Lee downed his third glass.
"If thats what had happened, I wouldn't be worried. What I learned that night was that Lee is a natural master.....of the 'Drunken Punch.' He was uncontrollable, he went on a rampage, causing thousands of ryo in damage. Luckily Neji and I were able to subdue him, otherwise who knows what could have happened."
"You mean that if Lee gets any alcohol in his system, he goes berserk." Lee downed a fourth.
"It's only happened once, so I don't know, but I gave explicit instructions for tonight. He is not allowed within ten feet of the bar, or else he would have to do five hundred laps around the village on one leg."
"Guy, we have to get Lee out of here right now!" A fifth.

"Sakura, would like to get some punch, they just refilled the bowl."

"Odd, but delicious. I'm going to have another." Lee said, filling his cup again. "I don't usually drink anything but mineral water, but it's a special night, so I'll celebrate." he said aster downing the second glass, and filling it a third time. "Lee, are you ok? You look flushed." Sakura said, eyes filled with concern.
"Yeah, I'm (hic) great! This is a (hic) great party!" Lee said after downing his fourth glass. He filled and downed a fifth glass in the blink of an eye. "Hey, Sakura, (hic) check this out! "Lee, please, quite down, everyone is staring" Sakura said, he face as red as her kimono.

Had the table not been unbalanced from the food and punch on top, he would have done this easily. "I wouldn't......do that." Guy said as Kakashi flew by, having taken a punch from Lee straight to the face.
"What the hell is going on?!?" Tsunade cried, dashing into the room.
"Thank goodness you're here, Lady Tsunade. It seems Kakashi spiked the genin's punch, and now Lee's gone berserk."
"I can't even leave to take care of official business without this place falling apart. I'll take care of him."
"Please don't hurt him, Lady Tsunade, it's not his fault."
"Don't worry, Guy, I'm only gonna knock him out, he won't be hurt." Tsunade dashed forward, charging chakra into her right hand. Lee launched a kick towards her stomach. She dodged it easily, and just barely managed to catch the fist hurtling towards her face.
"So fast! I have to end this quickly, or one of us could become seriously injured." She thought, dodging a second kick-punch combination. "I need a distraction."
"Lee, stop this instant!" Guy shouted
"Wha..?" Lee turned his head ever so slightly towards Guy.
"Got him!" Tsunade slipped past Lee and smack her palm to the back of Lee's neck. Lee fell to the floor flopping around, unable to control his body.
"What did you do to him?!?!" Guy cried.
"Don't worry, he's perfectly fine, his brain just can't properly communicate with the rest of his body. It'll wear off in a few hours. Attention, this party is now over, please exit quickly and quietly, and thank you for coming. Shizune, see to Kakashi." The fight had only lasted a moment, but much of the room had been destroyed, though thankfully most of the people had already scrambled from the room when they saw Kakashi go flying.
"Kakashi is fine, my Lady. Just a broken nose, and a possible concussion. I'll have him fixed up in no time."
"Good, I plan to have a long talk with him about what happened here tonight."
"Hey Granny, what the hell happened?" Naruto asked as he and Kiba walked into the room.
"Seems Kakashi decided to play a prank that didn't end well."
"I guess so." Kiba said, looking at Kakashi being worked on by Shizune.
"Ok boys, go on home, the party's over."

"Good night Naruto. Stop by the clerk's office anytime after noon tomorrow to pick up your payment."
"Goodbye, Lady Hokage. Naruto, I'll see you tomorrow at eight o'clock." Kiba said, running down the hall and out the main door.
"See me tomorrow at eight, what's he....? Oh no, i never got the chance to turn Kiba down! Oh well, I'll just tell him tomorrow, but for now, I've gotta get home. I'm bushed." Naruto muttered to himself. About halfway home, Naruto felt an odd sensation. "Feels like I'm being followed, but I don't see any....hgh!" Suddenly Naruto could no longer move, he was completely frozen mid-stride. "Wait, I've felt this before. Damnit Shikamaru, come out here!"
"Heh, sorry Naruto, it seemed like the best way to get your attention." Shikamaru said, lazily strolling out from an alley he had hidden in.
"What's up, did you need something?"
"I need to talk to you, now"
"What about you & Choji? Where is he anyway, you two are usually joined at the hip."
"He's walking Ino home, she had a little too much of the punch, she couldn't stand up straight."
"Oh, thats good of him. Listen, if you're worried about me telling anyone, don't. I know how to keep a secret."
"Thanks." Shikamaru dropped the jutsu "Me and Choji, we barely have the time to get together anymore, since everyone's mission loads have increased. Before tonight, we hadn't seen eachother in nearly a week, so we were both going out of our minds."

"Yeah, I guess I do. I didn't even realize it until about two months ago. Seeing him lying in that hospital bed, I just knew that I could never let anything like that happen to him ever again, because I loved him. Being such a straightforward guy, I told him the first chance I got. I was worried at first, because he started to cry. He told me they were tears of joy, because he'd known from the moment he met me that he loved me."
"Wow, that's amazing. I'm so happy for the two of you. Listen, I've got a pretty busy day tomorrow, so I've gotta head in, I'll see you later, Shikamaru." Naruto turned and ran.
"Huh, what's up with him?" Shikamaru said, shaking his head, "Oh well, not my problem. Choji's probably waiting for me, I better hurry." He lept onto a wall, and ran up to the roof, making his way toward the Nara forest. Naruto, meanwhile, had reached his apartment in record time, just barely holding in the sobs threatening to wrack his body. He threw open the door and, not even bothering to undress, he threw himself onto his bed. Reaching under his pillow, he pulled out a Konoha headband with a slash across it. He curled his body around it, breathing in the scent from it deeply, it had a calming affect on him, his body relaxed, and after only a few minutes, he passed out completely. It was the same way he had fallen asleep for the last two months.

"What incident?"
"That's right, you were in the Land of Waves when that happened. Well, to celebrate Lee mastering the Lotus, I took the whole team out to eat. Lee was drinking water, as he always does. "So he got drunk, it was probably a laugh. Prim and proper Rock Lee stumbling all over the place." Lee downed his third glass.
"If thats what had happened, I wouldn't be worried. What I learned that night was that Lee is a natural master.....of the 'Drunken Punch.' He was uncontrollable, he went on a rampage, causing thousands of ryo in damage. Luckily Neji and I were able to subdue him, otherwise who knows what could have happened."
"You mean that if Lee gets any alcohol in his system, he goes berserk." Lee downed a fourth.
"It's only happened once, so I don't know, but I gave explicit instructions for tonight. He is not allowed within ten feet of the bar, or else he would have to do five hundred laps around the village on one leg."
"Guy, we have to get Lee out of here right now!" A fifth.

"I spiked the punch." Kakashi said with a sigh.

"Sakura, would like to get some punch, they just refilled the bowl."
"Ok." They passed Choji on the way to the bowl.
"Here you go Sakura." Lee passed Sakura a full glass, then filled his glass for the first time.
"Thank you Lee" Sakura took a sip, "What an odd combination, fruit punch and vanilla."
"Odd, but delicious. I'm going to have another." Lee said, filling his cup again. "I don't usually drink anything but mineral water, but it's a special night, so I'll celebrate." he said aster downing the second glass, and filling it a third time. As he gulped it down, he began to feel a warm sensation filling his body. He began to fill a fourth cup.
"Lee, are you ok? You look flushed." Sakura said, eyes filled with concern.
"Yeah, I'm (hic) great! This is a (hic) great party!" Lee said after downing his fourth glass. He filled and downed a fifth glass in the blink of an eye. "Hey, Sakura, (hic) check this out! To prove my (hic) love for you, Im' (hic) gonna lift this table over my (hic) head, using just my left pinky!!"
"YOU WHAT!!!!!"
"Lee, please, quite down, everyone is staring" Sakura said, he face as red as her kimono.
"Let...(hic)....Let'um stare, everyone here knows....(hic)....knows I love you, know I'll proove it!" Using his left pinky, Lee attempted to lift the massive table over his head. Had the table not been unbalanced from the food and punch on top, he would have done this easily. He managed to lift it about two feet before it flipped, sending food and punch flying all over the other guests. Before the table crashed to the ground, Lee gave a cry of anguish.
"AGH!!!!!! If I cannot......(hic).....if I cannot lift this table to proove my love for you, then what good it is?!?" Lee slammed his left pinky into the side of the table, splitting it neatly in half, then kicked both halves into the wall, causing a loud crash and the building to shake.
"Guy, go for the legs, I'll take his arms!" Kakashi cried grabbing Lee.
"I wouldn't......do that." Guy said as Kakashi flew by, having taken a punch from Lee straight to the face.
"What the hell is going on?!?" Tsunade cried, dashing into the room.
"Thank goodness you're here, Lady Tsunade. It seems Kakashi spiked the genin's punch, and now Lee's gone berserk."
"I can't even leave to take care of official business without this place falling apart. I'll take care of him."
"Please don't hurt him, Lady Tsunade, it's not his fault."
"Don't worry, Guy, I'm only gonna knock him out, he won't be hurt." Tsunade dashed forward, charging chakra into her right hand. Lee launched a kick towards her stomach. She dodged it easily, and just barely managed to catch the fist hurtling towards her face.
"So fast! I have to end this quickly, or one of us could become seriously injured." She thought, dodging a second kick-punch combination. "I need a distraction."
"Lee, stop this instant!" Guy shouted
"Wha..?" Lee turned his head ever so slightly towards Guy.
"Got him!" Tsunade slipped past Lee and smack her palm to the back of Lee's neck. Lee fell to the floor flopping around, unable to control his body.
"What did you do to him?!?!" Guy cried.
"Don't worry, he's perfectly fine, his brain just can't properly communicate with the rest of his body. It'll wear off in a few hours. Attention, this party is now over, please exit quickly and quietly, and thank you for coming. Shizune, see to Kakashi." The fight had only lasted a moment, but much of the room had been destroyed, though thankfully most of the people had already scrambled from the room when they saw Kakashi go flying.
"Kakashi is fine, my Lady. Just a broken nose, and a possible concussion. I'll have him fixed up in no time."
"Good, I plan to have a long talk with him about what happened here tonight."
"Hey Granny, what the hell happened?" Naruto asked as he and Kiba walked into the room.
"Seems Kakashi decided to play a prank that didn't end well."
"I guess so." Kiba said, looking at Kakashi being worked on by Shizune.
"Ok boys, go on home, the party's over."
"Oh, ok. Well goodnight Granny....I guess."
"Good night Naruto. Stop by the clerk's office anytime after noon tomorrow to pick up your payment."
"Goodbye, Lady Hokage. Naruto, I'll see you tomorrow at eight o'clock." Kiba said, running down the hall and out the main door.
"See me tomorrow at eight, what's he....? Oh no, i never got the chance to turn Kiba down! Oh well, I'll just tell him tomorrow, but for now, I've gotta get home. I'm bushed." Naruto muttered to himself. About halfway home, Naruto felt an odd sensation. "Feels like I'm being followed, but I don't see any....hgh!" Suddenly Naruto could no longer move, he was completely frozen mid-stride. "Wait, I've felt this before. Damnit Shikamaru, come out here!"
"Heh, sorry Naruto, it seemed like the best way to get your attention." Shikamaru said, lazily strolling out from an alley he had hidden in.
"What's up, did you need something?"
"I need to talk to you, now"
"What about you & Choji? Where is he anyway, you two are usually joined at the hip."
"He's walking Ino home, she had a little too much of the punch, she couldn't stand up straight."

"Thanks." Shikamaru dropped the jutsu "Me and Choji, we barely have the time to get together anymore, since everyone's mission loads have increased. Before tonight, we hadn't seen eachother in nearly a week, so we were both going out of our minds."

"Yeah, I guess I do. I didn't even realize it until about two months ago. Seeing him lying in that hospital bed, I just knew that I could never let anything like that happen to him ever again, because I loved him. He told me they were tears of joy, because he'd known from the moment he met me that he loved me."
"Wow, that's amazing. I'm so happy for the two of you. Listen, I've got a pretty busy day tomorrow, so I've gotta head in, I'll see you later, Shikamaru." Naruto turned and ran.
"Huh, what's up with him?" Shikamaru said, shaking his head, "Oh well, not my problem. Choji's probably waiting for me, I better hurry." He lept onto a wall, and ran up to the roof, making his way toward the Nara forest. Naruto, meanwhile, had reached his apartment in record time, just barely holding in the sobs threatening to wrack his body. He threw open the door and, not even bothering to undress, he threw himself onto his bed. Reaching under his pillow, he pulled out a Konoha headband with a slash across it. He curled his body around it, breathing in the scent from it deeply, it had a calming affect on him, his body relaxed, and after only a few minutes, he passed out completely. It was the same way he had fallen asleep for the last two months.
