Rescuing injured Ilya

I read this several years ago so details may be somewhat sketchy; hopefully I can provide enough to jar someone's memory. Illya is severely  injured in an escape attempt, (I think the building where he's held prisoner collapses in an explosion) and Napoleon has to transport him in a donkey cart. Napoleon has to leave his partner behind to deliver
