I know the reactions have been mixed, and a number of people feel as though it isn't anything different from previous arrangements. A lot of people seem to be finding out that it is a big deal, and that abiding by Russian law will severely limit the freedom to choose certain topics, preferences, etc

I guess the question is how accurate is it really, and how much do the overlords care about (or how much are they really monitoring) such things? I would infer from how fandom-dominated LJ has become in the last decade, that if slash is only a third of those communities and blogs, it's still a huge portion of their customer base (English language users anyway.)
So.... I'm not sure if we should be worried. And I'm not sure if, assuming what the blogger above says is true, we shouldn't just leave the site on principle.
At any rate, when it comes to leaving LJ, I really don't wanna. But I will keep my ear to the ground a bit. And I am already on DW, though I haven't joined the UNCLE comms over there.... was rather liking having the compartmentalization.

In any event, the worse they could do to me is close my account. Why would I do the work for them by leaving now? I'd be surprised if anything happens, but if it does, it does. Until, and unless, I'm forced to, I'm not leaving.
